Dress knitting

Materials:

Yarn  (100% cotton, 50 g/100 m) 13-15-16-18-19-21 skeins,

circular and double-pointed needles 3.5 mm and 4 mm.

Knitting density: 21 stitches and 28 rows = 10x10 cm stockinette stitch on 4 mm needles.

We will knit from the top, in the round, with raglan, and we will emphasize the raglan lines with yarn overs. The back and skirt are decorated with lace diamonds along the lower edge, the patterns of which are provided in the appendix.

Legend:

purl stitch – knit stitch;

twisted knit stitch – twisted knit stitch;

yarn over – yarn over;

stitch – any stitch.

Explanation for decreases: before the marker, make a pass (knit 1 stitch as a knit stitch, pull 1 knit stitch through the slipped stitch), after the marker knit 2 knit stitches together.

Explanation for raglan lines

— for S-M: make an increase of 2 knit stitches at each marker (total – 8), performing 1 yarn over, 1 twisted knit stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 twisted knit stitch, 1 yarn over; in the next round, do not make twisted stitches, perform yarn overs normally;

— for L-XL-XXL-XXXL: increase every 2nd round by 4 stitches near each marker (total – 16), performing 1 yarn over (in the next round this will be a twisted knit stitch), 1 yarn over as a knit stitch, 1 twisted knit stitch, 1 yarn over, 1 knit stitch, 1 yarn over (in the next row this will be a twisted knit stitch); repeat this round of increases every 1-1-1-3 times.

Next, we make increases every 2nd row: we add 2 knit stitches at each marker (total – 8), doing it as follows:

— knit to the 1st and 3rd markers without increases, and before the 2nd and 4th perform 1 yarn over, 1 twisted knit stitch, 1 knit stitch, 1 twisted knit stitch, 1 yarn over, and in the next row, knit the yarn over normally. Such increases need to be made 19-20-22-21 times.

So, increases are made through yarn overs, which in the next row are knitted as twisted knit stitches.

Yoke

Cast on 134-134-140-144-144-148 stitches on 3.5 mm needles, join in the round.

Knit in the round according to chart A.1, repeat the pattern until A.1 is fully completed vertically.

Switch to 4 mm needles, knit knit stitches all around, increasing evenly by 16-20-14-22-42-46 stitches – resulting in 150-154-154-166-186-194 stitches on the needles.

When performing the next round, place 4 markers: 1 – at the beginning, the 2nd after 45-47-49-55-65-71 stitches, the 3rd after 30-30-28-28-28-26 knit stitches, the 4th after 45-47-49-55-65-71 stitches, and finish the row with knit stitches.

Next, knit as follows: 14-15-16-19-24-27 knit stitches; then according to chart A.2 knit 17 stitches until there are 0-0-1-1-1-1 stitches left to the 2nd marker; knit raglan; perform knit stitches until there are 3-3-4-4-4-4 stitches left to the 3rd marker; knit raglan again; then 2-3-6-11-14 knit stitches; then 43 stitches according to chart A.3; knit stitches until there are 0-0-1-1-1-1 stitches left to the 4th marker; knit raglan again. All the added stitches are knitted as knit stitches until chart A.3.

Complete A.2 fully, on these stitches knit knit stitches. When the pattern of A.3 is finished, the pattern of A.4 will follow on its stitches, 57 stitches.

After all, there will be 294-314-338-358-394-426 stitches on the needles, and the height of the yoke will reach 14-15-16-17-18-19 cm, respectively.

We will continue knitting according to the pattern, simultaneously dividing it as follows:

— knit the front, the first 81-87-95-103-117-129 stitches;

— transfer the next 66-70-74-76-80-84 stitches to an additional needle;

— cast on new 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches and place a marker in their center;

— knit the back and finish the row symmetrically.

This results in 174-186-202-222-250-274 stitches.

Continue knitting for 3 cm according to chart A.4.

Decrease by 1 stitch on both sides of all markers.

Repeat the round of decreases 5-3-3-3-3-3 times every 2.5-4-4-4-4-4 cm.

After completing A.4 completely, knit knit stitches for 18-19-20-21-22-23 cm and place 4 markers: after 15-17-19-21-25-27 stitches, after the next 45-51-55-61-67-75, after 30-34-38-42-50-54 and after 45-51-55-61-67-75. Then finish knitting the remaining 15-17-19-21-25-27 stitches as knit stitches.

In the next row, increase by 1 stitch in front of markers 1, 3 and after 2 and 4. Repeat this round of increases in the 6th round once, then – every 4th round 6-5-6-5-6-10 times, after that – every 2nd round 22-18-22-18-18-8 times.

As a result, we get 270-270-306-306-338-338 stitches.

In the next round, increase evenly by 2-2-0-0-2-2 stitches, knit until the main part reaches the desired length of 45-46-47-48-49-50 cm.

Next, knit according to A.6, while repeating the horizontal pattern 8-8-9-9-10-10 times. When A.6 is completed vertically, switch to 3.5 mm needles and work according to A.5 on all stitches. Bind off.

Sleeves

Take double-pointed needles. Cast on new stitches, 6-6-6-8-8-8, place a marker in the center, this will be the beginning of the round. You will have 72-76-80-84-88-92 stitches on the needles.

Knit knit stitches for 2 cm.

In the next round, decrease evenly by 8 stitches.

Switch to 3.5 mm needles and knit a full vertical repeat of A.5. Bind off stitches and sew the underarm seams.
