Neckline (optional)
classic
Cast on 39/40/43/44/47 stitches using contrasting yarn and #4 double-pointed needles (or circular with 100 cm for the magic loop technique).
Join the knitting in a circle. You will have 38/39/42/43/46 stitches left on the needles.
Turn the cast-on edge to the purl side, cut the yarn, and secure the ends. Mark the start of the round with a marker.
Take the main yarn and knit 3 rounds in purl stitches. In the 4th round, knit in 1*1 ribbing, picking up knit stitches from the 1st round as follows: knit 1 from the stitch of the lower row, purl 1 from the needle. Repeat this until the end of the round, then remove the contrasting yarn.
You will have 76/78/84/86/92 stitches on the needles.
Switch to #4/40 cm circular needles and knit 5 cm in 1*1 ribbing for a standard neckline or 11 cm for a stand-up collar.
Double
Cast on 76/78/84/86/92 stitches using both the main and contrasting yarn on #4/40 cm circular needles. Cut the contrasting yarn and secure the ends. Mark the start of the round with a marker.
Knit 12 rounds in 1*1 ribbing (the cast-on round does not count). Then, to form the rib fold, knit 2 rounds as follows: knit the knit stitches, and slip the purl stitches (do not knit) - yarn in front, then knit another 12 rounds in 1*1 ribbing.
Join the neckline by knitting together the rib stitches with the wraps using #5/40 cm needles (main size) while distributing the markers*
Short Row
Switch to #5/40 cm circular needles and knit 1 round in knit stitches, marking the raglan line stitches with markers as follows: MNR, 3 st RAG, M, 9/9/10/10/11 sleeve stitches, M, 3 st RAG, M, 20/21/23/24/26 back stitches, M, 3 st RAG, M, 9/9/10/10/11 stitches of the second sleeve, M, 3 st RAG, M, 26/27/29/30/32 front stitches.
*For a double neckline: distribute the markers at the neckline joining stage.

The short row is knitted in turn, using short rows.
Along the raglan lines, increases are made in knit rows: before the marker with an incline to the right (INC), after the marker with an incline to the left (DEC).

SPLITTING FOR SLEEVES AND BODY
Knit 3 st RAG, transfer sleeve stitches to a spare yarn, cast on 3/3/4/4/5 underarm stitches with the same yarn, knit 3 st RAG, back stitches, 3 st RAG, transfer stitches of the second sleeve to spare yarn, similarly cast on 3/3/4/4/5 underarm stitches, knit 3 st RAG and front stitches.
You will have 158/168/178/188/198 stitches on the needles.
If you haven't yet decided on the desired length of the dress - knit approximately 10 cm (or until the end of the skein) in stockinette stitch, leave the stitches on the needles and proceed to knit the sleeves. After both sleeves are knitted, you can use all the remaining yarn for knitting the body.
If you want to knit at once - the continuation is on the next page.
SLEEVES
Remove the contrasting yarn from the underarm stitches and transfer all stitches to #5/40 cm circular needles. You will have a total of 60/64/68/72/76 stitches on the needles. 56/60/63/67/70 sleeve stitches + 4/4/5/5/6 underarm stitches (of which the first and last are connected with a wrap - half stitches).
1st round: Take a new working yarn, mark the start of the round, knit the right half stitch as double leaning to the right, then 2/2/3/3/4 knit, knit the left half stitch as double leaning to the left, perform INC, knit all stitches to the end of the round, perform DEC.
You will have 62/66/70/74/78 stitches on the needles.
Knit the sleeve in the round, performing decreases every 15th round as follows: MNR, 4/4/5/5/6 knit, knit 2 together leaning to the left, sleeve stitches, stopping 2 stitches before the last stitches of the round, knit 2 together leaning to the right.
Decreases should be performed 4 times.
You will have: 54/58/62/66/70 stitches left on the needles.
After the 4th decrease, knit another 15-20 rounds of stockinette stitch (up to marker 1). After that, switch to #4 double-pointed needles (or 100 cm circular for the magic loop technique) and knit 1 round in knit stitches, then 11 cm in 1*1 ribbing (up to marker 2).
Consider the behavior of the yarn after washing (shrinkage/stretching).
If necessary, adjust the length of the sleeve so that after blocking it remains at marker 2
Knit 2 rounds in hollow ribbing:
1st round: knit the knit stitches, slip the purl stitches (yarn in front), alternate this until the end of the round.
2nd round: slip the knit stitches (yarn in back), knit the purl stitches. Alternate this until the end of the round. Bind off the stitches using the Italian method.
Knit the second sleeve in the same way
BODY OF THE DRESS
Knit 52 cm in stockinette stitch from the underarms.
Remove the start of round marker, knit 2/2/3/3/3 stitches, transfer the next 4 stitches to spare contrasting yarn (slit stitches), then transfer the next 75/80/85/90/95 stitches to another spare yarn (back stitches), and the next 4 slit stitches also to spare contrasting yarn.
The knitting is divided into 4 parts: 75/80/85/90/95 stitches on the needles (the front part of the dress) and 4 st of the slit + 75/80/85/90/95 stitches of the back part of the dress + 4 st of the second slit on three different yarns.
Attention: the knitting will now be flat, knit all stitches in every row (there are no edge stitches, the first and last stitches are knitted according to the pattern: in knit rows - knit, in purl rows - purl)
Knit to a length of 24 cm. Finish with a purl row.
Set the knitting aside, do not cut the yarn. Before proceeding to work on the bottom - prepare the base of the slit.
Base of the slit: take a new working yarn, #4 double-pointed needles and descend 4 rounds down and 1 stitch to the right from the slit stitches from the purl side. Pick up 6 stitches, then knit 2 rounds (purl, knit), cut the working yarn.
Next, transfer the 4 slit stitches from the spare yarn to the needle and join the stitches from both needles, placing them on 2 spare yarns in the following order:
1) 2 st from the near, 1 st from the far, 1 st from the near, 1 st from the far needle
2) 1 st from the far, 1 st from the near, 1 st from the far, 2 st from the near needle
Repeat all the same with the second side.
Left part of the slit
Return to knitting the bottom. Take #4 needles with 100 cm or longer cable and knit 1 knit round. Then pick up stitches from each row of the left part of the slit. Pick up the last stitch from the row marked with a marker. Transfer the 5 slit stitches to a #4 double-pointed needle, pick up one more stitch from the edge of the slit, and knit the stitches from the double-pointed needle: knit 2 together, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, turn the knitting. Knit the placket along the edge in hollow ribbing as follows:
1st round (purl): slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, knit 2 together purl.
2nd round (knit): slip 1 knit, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1.
Alternate 1st and 2nd rounds until all picked up edge stitches are decreased. Finish with a purl round when the last stitch is decreased. Cut the yarn and transfer the 5 slit stitches to the main needles.
Right part of the slit
Take a new working yarn and on #4 needles pick up stitches from each row of the right part of the slit, starting from the row marked with a marker. Cut the yarn. Return to the base of the slit. Transfer the 5 slit stitches to a #4 double-pointed needle, pick up one more stitch from the edge of the slit.
Join the new working yarn from the purl side of the piece and knit from the double-pointed needle: knit 2 together purl, knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front). Turn the knitting and knit the placket along the edge in hollow ribbing as follows:
1st round (knit): knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 2 together knit leaning to the left.
2nd round (purl): slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front).
Alternate 1st and 2nd rounds until all picked up edge stitches are decreased. Finish with a knit round when the last stitch is decreased. Knit the last knit round with the working needles so that from this point you can continue knitting the bottom.
Finishing the bottom
Continue to knit the knit round, performing increases between the knit stitches of the body of the dress: slip the first stitch as purl (yarn in front), knit 1, increase, knit 1, increase. Alternate this, stopping before the last 7 stitches on the needles.
Finish the round: knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1, slip 1 purl (yarn in front), knit 1. You should have on the needles: 157/167/177/187/197 stitches.
Knit the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds in hollow ribbing (all knit stitches are knitted as knit, purl stitches are slipped (yarn in front). In the 2nd round, knit the increases as twisted knit stitches. Bind off the stitches using the Italian method.
Back of the dress: transfer the stitches to #4.5 needles (half a size smaller than the main ones), join a new working yarn from the purl side and knit purl 75/80/85/90/95 stitches, mark this knitted round with a marker on the right side). Knit all stitches in every round (there are no edge stitches, the first and last stitches are knitted according to the pattern: in knit rounds - knit, in purl rounds - purl).
Knit to a length of 24 cm. Finish with a purl round.
Next, switch to #4 needles with a cable of 100 cm or longer and knit a knit round, then repeat all the same actions for processing the slit, starting from the left part of the slit.
MOISTURE - STEAM FINISHING
Weave in all ends on the purl side of the piece. Wash and dry the dress according to the recommendations on the yarn label you used.
Most often, this is hand washing at 30 degrees, gentle spinning, and horizontal drying while shaping the piece. Some yarns prohibit the use of fabric softener.
