                                                                   Braided Pattern

The Braided pattern of moderate complexity is executed on knitting needles. The crossings of six stitches allow you to use the Braided pattern instead of ribbing on the knitted item.

This pattern is usually used when knitting hats, jackets, and sweaters. The Braided pattern looks very good when used instead of ribbing, for example, at the bottom of the sleeve and the bottom of the front. The Braided pattern will beautifully decorate the knitted item, and at the same time, the bottom of the sleeve or back and front will not stretch if the braid goes along the bottom like a ribbing.

Knitting a sample of the Braided stitch is not difficult, you just have to be very careful when executing the stitches in the row where the crossings occur, which decorate the entire pattern.

To execute a sample of the Braided pattern, you should cast on 26 stitches. The number of stitches when knitting this stitch must be a multiple of six plus two edge stitches. Further, a description of the knitting row by row of the Braided pattern is given.

Row 1 is completed entirely - with knit stitches.

Row 2 is knitted with purl stitches.

Row 3 - this is the row where the crossings are made, and it requires your attention. Across the entire row, crossings of six stitches are performed, with the stitches being slipped to the front.

You can use the method with or without an additional needle. I prefer to make the crossings without an additional needle. So, slip the edge stitch onto the right needle and also slip the three stitches following it onto the right needle without knitting them.

You can try to crochet this pattern

The pattern - the number of stitches is a multiple of 6 + 2 edge stitches

The first and fifth rows - knit stitches

The second and all even rows - knit all stitches purlwise

The third row - * cross 6 stitches to the left *

The seventh row - 3 knit stitches, * cross six stitches to the right *, 3 knit stitches

The ninth row - repeat the pattern from the first row
