Indian wedge for the thumb
Cast on 44 stitches and distribute them on 3 needles: 22 stitches, 11 stitches, 11 stitches. Knit 22 stitches in cable pattern according to the chart, 22 stitches (11 stitches on one needle, 11 stitches on another needle) in 1x1 ribbing. After 19 rows, start forming the wedge.

Yarn Manos del Uruguay MAXIMA (100% merino wool, 100 g/200 m) 1 skein,
circular needles 4 mm and 5 mm
Knit density:
19 stitches and 27 rows = 10x10 cm stockinette stitch on 5 mm needles

Description of mittens knitted for women.
Left mitten.
On 5 mm needles, cast on 36 stitches and join them in a circle, place a marker and switch to 4 mm needles.
Knit 22 rounds in 2x2 ribbing (2 knit, 2 purl), switch to 5 mm needles and perform a round of decreases:
*7 knit stitches, 2 stitches together knit, repeat from * 3 more times, knit 4 rounds in knit.
Forming the Indian wedge for the thumb:
1 round:
5 knit stitches, 1 knit stitch through the front and back of the stitch (increase), place a marker, knit knit stitches around = 33 stitches.
2-10 rounds:
knit to the last stitch before the marker, perform the increase and finish the round = 42 stitches.
11 round:
16 knit stitches, transfer the next 10 stitches to a spare needle or waste yarn and finish the round = 32 stitches.
Palm.
Continue knitting in the round on the remaining stitches, completing another 26 rounds.
Decreases:
1 round:
Knit (yarn over (slip 1 as knit, knit 1 and pull it through the slipped stitch), 12 knit stitches, 2 stitches together knit) 2 times = 28 stitches.
2 round:
Knit (yarn over, 10 knit stitches, 2 stitches together knit) 2 times = 24 stitches.
Continue decreases in the same manner, after the 7th round there will be 4 stitches on the needles.
Cut the yarn and pull its end through the remaining stitches, tighten the stitches and secure the yarn on the wrong side of the mitten.
Thumb.
Transfer the held stitches to 5 mm needles and pick up 4 more stitches, join the stitches in a circle.
In the next round, knit:
10 knit stitches, 2 stitches together knit 2 times.
Knit another 9 rounds in knit and then knit 2 rounds, performing 2 stitches together knit on all stitches = 3 stitches.
Cut the yarn and secure the stitches.
The right mitten is knitted symmetrically, with the increases for the wedge made after the 10th stitch of the round.
