Choose the yarn and needles yourself.
Cast on 44 stitches in any way, including 2 edge stitches. Leave a long tail of yarn.
Row 1 and all odd rows. Edge stitch, 1 purl stitch, *5 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches* 5 times, 5 knit stitches, 1 purl stitch, edge stitch.
Row 2 and all even rows. Edge stitch, 1 knit stitch, *5 purl stitches, 2 knit stitches* 5 times, 5 knit stitches, 1 purl stitch, edge stitch.
Knit 20 rows. Cut the long yarn, thread it through a needle. Gather all stitches with the needle onto the yarn, pull one end of the pumpkin closed. Sew the side with the edge stitches. Secure the yarn (make a knot). Stuff the pumpkin not too tightly, but so that it is firm and smooth.
Make the second bottom of the pumpkin also with a needle, using the yarn left from casting on the stitches. Pass the needle through one stitch of the cast-on edge, pull tight, tie a knot.
Without cutting the yarn, pierce the pumpkin through. Insert the needle in the middle of one bottom, pull it out from the middle of the second bottom. Place the yarn between the purl stitches and repeat the piercing. Pull the yarn tight, thus forming the sections. We will repeat this until we form all the sections of the pumpkin.

From the 1st, 3rd, and 5th knit stitches of each section, we will raise single crochet stitches (sc). A total of 18 stitches.
*1sc, DECREASE* 6 times. A total of 12 stitches.
DECREASE is done like this:

Knit 6 sc for 4 rows or more. Cut the yarn, hide it inside the tail.
