Required:
600 (650) g of purple
yarn Schachenmayr Boston
regular and circular needles No. 7 and No. 8
Main
pattern:
alternately 2 rows of purl stitch (right side – purl, wrong side – knit)
and 2 rows of knit stitch (right side – knit, wrong side – purl)
Braid pattern:
knit according to the chart, which shows only the right side rows, on the wrong side
knit the stitches according to the pattern, letting the yarn overs drop. Repeat from row 1 to 20.
Knitting tension:
Main pattern: 11 stitches and 17-18 rows = 10?10 cm; braid
pattern: 31 stitches = 16 cm in width.
Pullover:
It is necessary to knit entirely
across, starting with the sleeve.
Cast on 68 (74) stitches and knit 1 purl row.
Then knit as follows: edge stitch, 31 stitches of braid pattern, 4 (10) stitches of
main pattern, 31 stitches of braid pattern, edge stitch.
For shoulder slopes, increase on
both sides from 4 (10) stitches of main pattern in the 5th row 1 time and in every 4th row another 7
times 1 stitch (from the cross thread knit 1 twisted purl) = 20 (26) stitches of main
pattern.
At the same time, at a height of 10 (8) cm, additionally cast on for
the front and back on both sides 14 (16) stitches and knit these stitches in the main pattern =
a total of 112 (122) stitches.
At a height of 23 cm = after 41 rows, divide the work
for the neck opening in the middle and first knit the right half.
In the 1st row,
additionally cast on for the collar from the inner edge 5 stitches and knit
these stitches in the main pattern = 61 (66) stitches.
At a height of 47 cm = after 83 rows,
close 5 stitches of the collar and set aside the remaining 56 (61) stitches. Knit the 2nd
half symmetrically.
Now finish the pullover symmetrically, i.e., knit on
all 112 (122) stitches.
After 6 rows, knit for shoulder slopes the 1st and
last of the 20 (26) middle stitches of the main pattern together with the last or
first stitch of the braid pattern purlwise and repeat these decreases 7 more
times in every 4th row (respectively, these 20 (26) stitches will become
less).
At the same time, at a height of 60 (62) cm close on both
sides 14 (16) stitches and at a height of 70 cm after 123 rows or respectively
after the next 2nd row of the braid pattern, the remaining 68 (74) stitches. The total height is 5
42 (46.5) cm.
Collar:
Using a contrasting yarn, cast on 32
stitches and then knit with the original yarn in the main
pattern.
At a height of 75 cm = after the next 2 rows of purl stitches, set the stitches aside.
Remove
the contrasting yarn and transfer the stitches to the needles. Sew the stitches of both needles
together with a knit stitch.
Strings (2 pieces):
Knit on 2
circular needles. Cast on 6 stitches, * move the stitches back to the other end of the needle, lightly pull the yarn and knit the stitches knitwise, repeat from *.
From time to
time gently stretch the string in length to align the stitches in length and
width.
At a height of 80 cm, close the stitches.
Assembly:
Lay out the
pullover pieces and let them dry under damp
towels.
Complete the side seams and the sleeve seams.
Sew the collar
to the neck opening, adjusting the width as necessary.
Thread the strings
through the crossings of the braid pattern and attach them to the
cast-on and closed edges.
