YOU WILL NEED

Yarn (50% sheep wool, 25% viscose, 25% alpaca wool; 50 g/110 m) — 9 (10) 11 (12) skeins of light gray; needles No. 4.5 and 5; circular needles No. 4.5, 40 cm long.

WORK EXECUTION

Ribbing

*1 knit, 1 purl.* (1st row = purl row).

Stockinette stitch

Knit the knit rows with knit stitches, and the purl rows with purl stitches. In circular rows, knit all stitches knit.

Seed stitch

1st row: *1 knit, 1 purl,* repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

2nd row and all subsequent rows: knit purl stitches as knit, and knit stitches as purl.

Relief stripe

Knit according to the pattern.

1 decrease

Slip 1 stitch as a knit, knit the next stitch and pull it through the slipped stitch.

Knitting density

18 stitches x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm, knitted in stockinette stitch on needles No. 5.

WORK EXECUTION

Back

On needles No. 4.5, cast on 86 (94) 102 (110) stitches and knit 6 cm of ribbing: *1 knit, 1 purl.* (1st row = purl row). Finish the ribbing with a purl row.

Switch to needles No. 5 and continue working in stockinette stitch.

When the length of the piece reaches 40 cm, close 3, 2 (5, 2) 7, 2 (8, 2) stitches on both sides = 76 (80) 84 (90) stitches remaining on the needles and in the next knit row start the raglan decreases: 1 knit, 1 decrease, knit until the last 3 stitches on the needle, knit 2 stitches together, 1 knit. Repeat these decreases every 2nd row — a total of 23 (25) 27 (29) decreases on each side. Close the last 30 (30) 30 (32) stitches in one row = straight edge of the neckline.

Front

On needles No. 4.5, cast on 86 (94) 102 (110) stitches and knit 6 cm of ribbing: *1 knit, 1 purl.* (1st row = purl row). Finish the ribbing with a purl row.

Switch to needles No. 5 and continue working, distributing the stitches of the patterns as follows: knit the first 30 (34) 38 (42) stitches in seed stitch, the next 27 stitches — relief stripe according to the provided pattern, and the remaining stitches — in seed stitch.

Attention

Knit the first stitch as a purl, at the end of the row add 1 stitch = 87 (95) 103 (111) stitches.

When the length of the piece reaches 40 cm, close the stitches = 77 (81) 85 (91) stitches remaining on the needles and in the next knit row perform the raglan decreases as described for the back.

Attention

Knit stitches together according to the seed stitch pattern. At the beginning of the row, perform 1 decrease if it's a knit stitch, and knit 2 stitches together as purl if it's a purl stitch. At the end of the row, knit 2 stitches together as knit or 2 stitches together as purl. After completing 13 (15) 17 (19) raglan decreases on each side = 51 (51) 51 (53) stitches remaining on the needles, close the middle 13 (13) 13 (15) stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

To round the neckline, close 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 stitches from the inner edge, while continuing raglan decreases from the outer edge — perform 8 more times until 3 stitches remain on the needles. Knit these 3 stitches as follows: slip 1 stitch as a knit, knit 2 stitches together as knit and pull through the slipped stitch. Pull the end of the yarn through the last stitch.

Finish the second side symmetrically.

Right sleeve

On needles No. 4.5, cast on 46 (46) 48 (50) stitches and knit 6 cm of ribbing, as described for the back.

Switch to needles No. 5 and continue working in stockinette stitch. In rows 7 (5) 3 (7th), perform 1 increase on both sides for the slopes after/before the edge stitch. Repeat these increases alternately every 6th row and every 8th row (alternately every 6th row) every 4th row and every 6th row (every 4th row) — a total of 12 (16) 18 (20) times = 70 (78) 84 (90) stitches remaining on the needles.

When the length of the sleeve reaches 47 cm (applies to all sizes), close 3, 2 (5, 2) 7, 2 (8, 2) stitches on both sides and in the next knit row perform raglan decreases as described for the back — a total of 21 (23) 25 (27) times on each side = 18 (18) 16 (16) stitches remaining on the needles.

For the cap, close 5, 5, 6 (5, 5, 6) 4, 5, 5 (4, 5, 5) stitches from the right edge in knit rows, while performing raglan decreases from the left edge 2 more times.

Left sleeve

Knit as the right sleeve, but in mirror image, i.e., close the stitches for the cap in purl rows.

Assembly

Sew the raglan seams, the sleeve seams, and the side seams.

On circular needles No. 4.5, cast on 102 (104) 106 (108) stitches for the neckline edging and knit in the round for 8 rows in ribbing (= alternating 1 knit, 1 purl). In the last row, close the stitches according to the pattern.
