The Marzipan pullover is knitted seamlessly, from the top down, starting with the neckline. The yoke is knitted in a pattern of intertwined cables, which transitions into a 2x2 ribbing for the body and sleeves.
After finishing the yoke, the work is divided into the body and sleeves, which are finished separately. If desired, after completing the yoke, a short row shaping can be formed for the back, instructions are included.
The Marzipan pullover is shown in this photo with the Moon River Cable Hat.

21 sts and 27 rnds = 10 cm, pattern as per chart, in the round, using larger needles, after blocking
20 sts and 25 rnds = 10 cm, 2x2 rib in the round, using medium-sized needles, after blocking, measured over relaxed fabric, not stretched when blocking
Needles
• 3 mm double-pointed needles or circular needles with a cable suitable for knitting small circumferences
• 3 mm circular needles with a 40 cm cable for the neckline
• 3 mm circular needles with a 80 cm cable for smaller sizes and 100 cm for larger sizes for the lower edge
• 3.5 mm circular needles with a 40 cm cable for smaller sizes and 60 cm for larger sizes for the sleeves
• 3.5 mm circular needles with a 80 cm cable for smaller sizes and 100 cm for larger sizes for the main pattern
• 4 mm circular needles with a 80 cm cable for smaller sizes and 100 cm for larger sizes for the cable pattern
Note: Always use the needle size that gives you the correct gauge!
To keep the cable pattern stretchy, you need to knit the patterned part using a needle one size larger than for the main ribbing, so be sure to measure your swatch and change needles if necessary.
Other
• 3 stitch markers
• cable needle
• waste yarn
• tapestry needle
• blocking tools
Instructions
NECKLINE
Cast on 96 (104, 112, 120, 128, 119, 133, 120, 120) sts for the neckline, using smaller needles (recommended size 3 mm), using
Classic long tail cast on. PM for the start of the round and join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. The start marker is the center back.
For sizes 1-5 only
Rnd. Ribbing: *1 purl, 2 knit, 1 purl; repeat from * to end.
For sizes 6-7 only
Rnd. Ribbing: *1 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit; repeat from * to end.
For sizes 8-9 only
Rnd. Ribbing: *1 purl, 2 knit; repeat from * to end.
All sizes
Continue knitting as established for 7.5 cm from the cast-on edge.
Note: The neckline will be folded in half and sewn to the inside of the pullover at the very end.
For sizes 6-7 only
Rnd. with increases: *1 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, yo; repeat from * to end. - (-, -, -, -, 17, 19, -, -) sts increased, - (-, -, -, -, 136, 152, -, -) sts on the needles.
For sizes 8-9 only
Rnd. Ribbing: *1 purl, 2 knit, yo; repeat from * to end. 40 sts increased, 160 sts on the needles.
YOKE
All sizes
Switch to smaller needles (recommended size 4 mm).
Start the cable pattern as established in Chart 1.
The pattern is repeated 12 (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21) times in each rnd.
Note for Rnds. 10, 28, 40, and 46 of the Chart:
Knit as established in the chart until the last 3 sts of the rnd, do not finish the last repeat, then knit the last 3 sts as part of the first cable of the next rnd. (Remove the start marker while working the cable and return it between the 2 purl sts in the middle of the cable).
In the next rnd, knit as established in the chart until the last 3 sts, then knit 3 sts as 2 knit, 1 purl.
After completing all 52 rnds of Chart 1, there should be 288 (312, 336, 360, 384, 408, 456, 480, 504) sts on the needles.
Switch to medium-sized needles (recommended size 3.5 mm) and knit 2x2 ribbing on all sts:
Rnd. ribbing: *1 purl, 2 knit, 1 purl; repeat from * to end.
Continue with 2x2 ribbing until 26 (26, 26, 26, 26, 27, 27, 29, 29) cm from the start of the cable pattern (not including the neckline) or until the desired length of the yoke.
DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES
Note: This is a good place to place the stitches on waste yarn and try on the yoke to see how it fits. If you need to add extra length, you can knit a few more rounds of 2x2 ribbing before separating the body and sleeves.
Next rnd: Knit the next 40 (44, 48, 54, 56, 60, 66, 68, 74) sts in 2x2 ribbing as established.
Place the next 64 (68, 72, 72, 80, 84, 96, 104, 104) sts onto a holder for the right sleeve, cast on 8 (8, 8, 8, 8, 12, 12, 12, 12) sts for the armhole, knit the next 80 (88, 96, 108, 112, 120, 132, 136, 148) sts in 2x2 ribbing as established.
Then place the next 64 (68, 72, 72, 80, 84, 96, 104, 104) sts onto a holder for the left sleeve, cast on 8 (8, 8, 8, 8, 12, 12, 12, 12) sts for the armhole, and knit in 2x2 ribbing as established to the end of the round. The start marker is the center back.
Continue knitting in the round. There should be 176 (192, 208, 232, 240, 264, 288, 296, 320) sts for the body on the needles.
Next rnd: *1 purl, 2 knit, 1 purl; repeat from * to end.
Knit one more rnd of 2x2 ribbing as established before starting short row shaping.
SHORT ROW SHAPING FOR BACK
This part is optional, so if you do not want to do the short row shaping, you can proceed directly to the body instructions. Short rows are knitted to each armhole so that the back is longer than the front.
Short row 1 (RS): Knit the next 40 (44, 48, 54, 56, 60, 66, 68, 74) sts in 2x2 ribbing as established, turn the work.
Short row 2 (WS): Sl1 wyib, while doing a yarn over, pull the working yarn so that the “legs” of the slipped stitch rise up on the right needle and look like a double stitch. From now on this is called “DS”. Then knit in 2x2 ribbing as established (= knit stitches as knits, purl stitches as purls) until the start marker, SM, knit the next 40 (44, 48, 54, 56, 60, 66, 68, 74) sts in 2x2 ribbing as established, turn the work.
Short row 3 (RS): Sl1 wyib, while doing a yarn over, pull the yarn as described above, knit in 2x2 ribbing until the start marker, SM, knit in 2x2 ribbing until the next DS, knit DS 2 together as knits or 2 together as purls, accordingly to the pattern, knit 2 more sts in 2x2 ribbing, turn the work.
Short row 4 (WS): Sl1 wyib, while doing a yarn over, pull the yarn as described above, knit in 2x2 ribbing until the start marker, SM, knit in 2x2 ribbing until the next DS, knit DS 2 together as knits or 2 together as purls, accordingly to the pattern, knit 2 more sts in 2x2 ribbing, turn the work.
Repeat short rows 3-4 another 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 5, 5, 5, 5) times.
Short row 5 (RS): Sl1 wyib, while doing a yarn over, pull the yarn as described above, knit in 2x2 ribbing until the start marker.
Next rnd: Resume work in rnd. Knit in 2x2 ribbing, knitting the remaining DS together as 2 together as knits or 2 together as purls, accordingly to the pattern.
BODY
Next rnd: *1 purl, 2 knit, 1 purl; repeat from * to end.
Knit in 2x2 ribbing until 23 (23, 23, 23, 26, 26, 26, 28, 28) cm from the armhole, or 5 cm shorter than the desired length.
LOWER EDGE
Switch to smaller needles (recommended size 3 mm).
Rnd. Ribbing: *1 knit, 1 purl; repeat from * to end. Continue as established until 5 cm from the beginning of the lower edge.
Bind off all sts using Tubular Bind Off, or any other method.

SLEEVES
Note: To avoid holes at the sides of the armhole, you can lift an additional stitch from the gap between the bottom of the armhole and the sleeve stitches from the holder, and immediately decrease it by knitting it together with the adjacent stitch in the first rnd.
Place the stitches held for the left sleeve back onto medium-sized needles (recommended size 3.5 mm). Starting from the center of the bottom of the armhole, lift and knit 4 (4, 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 6, 6) sts along the edge of the cast-on stitches of the body.
Knit the first 20 (20, 24, 22, 28, 28, 36, 38, 40) sts of the sleeve in 2x2 ribbing as established, PM, then knit the next 24 sts in 2x2 ribbing, PM, knit in 2x2 ribbing to the end of the sleeve, then lift and knit 4 (4, 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 6, 6) sts along the second half of the edge of the cast-on stitches of the body. PM for the start of the round and continue knitting in the round. There should be 72 (76, 80, 80, 88, 96, 108, 116, 116) sts for the sleeve on the needles.
Note: SM all markers during work. 2 markers at the top of the sleeve mark the position for the cable of the sleeve later.
For sizes 1-3, 5, 7, and 9 only:
Rnd. ribbing: *1 purl, 2 knit, 1 purl; repeat from * to end.
For sizes 4, 6, and 8 only:
Rnd. ribbing: *1 knit, 2 purl, 1 knit; repeat from * to end.
All sizes:
Continue in 2x2 ribbing as established for your size, for another 6 (5, 4, 6, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2) rnds.
For sizes 1-3, 5, 7, and 9 only:
Rnd. with decreases: 1 purl, 1 knit, ssk, knit ribbing as established, to the last 4 sts, knit 2 together as knits, 1 knit, 1 purl. 2 sts decreased.
For sizes 4, 6, and 8 only:
Rnd. with decreases: 1 knit, 2 purl, 1 knit, ssk, knit ribbing as established to the last 6 sts, knit 2 together as knits, 1 knit, 2 purl, 1 knit. 2 sts decreased.
All sizes:
In the next rnd, you may not be able to knit 2x2 ribbing on all sts, so knit the sts as they appear: knits as knits and purls as purls. Read the following instructions carefully before proceeding, as you start the sleeve cable while still working on shaping the sleeve.
Repeat decreases every 7th (6th, 5th, 7th, 5th, 4th, 4th, 3rd, 3rd) rnd for another 11 (13, 15, 13, 17, 21, 25, 29, 29) times. 48 (48, 48, 52, 52, 52, 56, 56, 56) sts on the needles.
At the same time, after 26 (26, 26, 28, 28, 30, 30, 32, 32) cm from the armhole or 14 cm shorter than the desired length, start knitting Chart 2 between the markers at the top of the sleeve.
Knit all 24 rnds of the chart.
After finishing the chart and all decreases, continue knitting in 2x2 ribbing on all sts until 35 (35, 35, 37, 37, 39, 39, 41, 41) cm from the armhole or 5 cm shorter than the desired sleeve length.
CUFF
Switch to smaller needles (recommended size 3 mm).
Rnd. Ribbing: *1 knit, 1 purl; repeat from * to end.
Continue as established until 5 cm from the beginning of the cuff.
Bind off all sts using Tubular Bind Off, or any other method.
For sizes 1-3, 5, 7, and 9 only:
Knit the second sleeve the same way as the left one.
For sizes 4, 6, and 8 only:
Place the stitches of the right sleeve onto medium-sized needles (recommended size 3.5 mm).
Starting from the center of the bottom of the armhole, lift and knit - (4, -, 4, -, 6, -, 6, -) sts along the edge of the cast-on stitches. Knit the first - (24, -, 26, -, 32, -, 42, -) sts of the sleeve in 2x2 ribbing as established, PM, then knit the next 24 sts in 2x2 ribbing, PM, knit in 2x2 ribbing to the end of the sleeve, then lift and knit - (4, -, 4, -, 6, -, 6, -) sts along the second half of the edge of the cast-on stitches.
PM for the start of the round and continue knitting in the round. There should be - (-, -, 80, -, -, 108, -, 116) sts for the sleeve.
Then knit the remainder of the sleeve as established for the left sleeve.
FINISHING
Fold the neckline in half and sew the upper edge to the inside at the base of the neckline with a "whip stitch". Weave in all remaining yarn ends. Perform wet blocking to the given measurements.
