Brief information on knitting the garment

The jumper is knitted in the round from bottom to top, then the knitting is divided into two parts — front and back. The shoulders are sewn, the sleeves are knitted in the round from the armholes. Width 52 cm, length as described 58 cm.

Gauge
10 cm x 10 cm = 16 stitches x 26 rows of stockinette on 5 mm needles. (yarn as described in 2 strands).

Attention! The gauge must match the specified, so before starting work you must knit and wash a swatch.

Then count how many stitches are in 10 cm. If there are more than 16 stitches, switch to thicker needles; if fewer than 16 stitches, switch to thinner needles.

- 1x1 rib in the round: Row 1: *1 knit, 1 purl*, repeat from * to *, repeat starting from row 1;

- 1x1 rib with turning rows: Row 1 - *1 knit, 1 purl*, repeat from * to *; Row 2 - *1 knit, 1 purl*, repeat from * to *.

- Lace pattern Diamonds: repeat 40 stitches in width, 74 rows in height.

- In row 29, at the end of each repeat instead of "2 decreases with left slant" read "1 knit".

- In rows 43, 53, 63, 73 of the pattern, at the beginning of the 1st repeat instead of "3 decreases" read "2 decreases with left slant", then follow the pattern, at the end "3 knit, M". 2nd and subsequent repeats - 3 decreases, move the marker BEFORE "3 decreases", at the end of knitting "2 decreases with right slant, 4 knit."

Cast on 160 stitches (+1 stitch for joining in the round) on 3.5 mm needles.

Knit the pattern "1x1 Rib in the round" for 9 rows.

Switch to 5 mm needles and knit as follows:

Row 1 - M, 4 repeats of the pattern "Diamonds" (1st row).

Mark each repeat with markers.

Row 2 and subsequent rows - follow the pattern.

For total length of 58 cm, knit 1 repeat of the pattern "Diamonds" in height + rows 3 to 12.

After reaching the desired height, split the knitting (the front) into 3 parts — fronts with plackets and back.

Front part of the garment:

Cast off 80 stitches onto the working needles. In the first row, increase edge stitches (at the beginning of the row 1 knit from the chain and at the end of the row).

Row 1 - 2 repeats of the pattern "Diamonds" (13th row).

Row 2 and all even rows - follow the pattern (purl stitches).

Row 3 - 15th row of the pattern; Row 5 - 17th row; Row 7 - 19th row; Row 9 - 21st row; Row 11 - 23rd row; Row 13 - 25th row; Row 15 - 27th row; Row 17 - 29th row; Row 18 - 30th row.

Next, the knitting should be divided into 3 parts.

On the needles 82 stitches. The central 18 stitches move to an auxiliary needle.

Neckline finishing

Using 3.5 mm needles (1.5 sizes smaller than the needles for the main fabric), pick up 126 stitches (from the start of the shoulder), join the knitting in the round.

The first row is purled.

Then work in the pattern «1x1 Rib» for 12 rows. Bind off the stitches in a way convenient for you.

Knitting the sleeves.

In this model you can independently adjust the height of the armhole and the sleeve width. The armhole height according to the description is 18 cm.

Before picking up stitches from the armhole, you need to decide the height of the armhole. We measure 18 cm, mark with pins.

10 cm - 16 stitches. 18 cm - 28.8 stitches = 30 stitches.

That is, for a height of 18 cm you need to pick up 60 stitches. This is 1.5 repeats of the pattern (1-40 stitches + 1-20 stitches).

From the mark, pick up 30 stitches up to the shoulder seam + 30 stitches after.

Join in the round, mark the beginning of the knitting with a marker, knit in rounds according to the pattern to the required length (try the garment as you go).

If you want straight sleeves, decreases are made only before starting the 1x1 ribbing (cuffs). For this, in the 1st row of the pattern «1x1 Rib» decrease stitches - 2 purl stitches together 20 times. On needles 40 stitches.

Switch to 4 mm needles, knit in the pattern «1x1 Rib» for 14 rows (as you wish).

If the armhole height is more than 18 cm, for example 20 cm, you need to pick up 64 stitches. That is, you distribute the pattern as follows - 2 knit, 1 repeat of the Diamonds pattern (1-40 stitches), 1/2 repeat of the Diamonds pattern (1-20 stitches), 2 knit.

After the sleeves are knitted, sew a stockinette seam along the remaining distance of the side seam.

The jumper is ready!

It is highly recommended to wash the garment in warm water with a detergent. Dry flat on a horizontal surface. After the garment is completely dry, hide the ends of the yarn.
