EXECUTION

The Solandra sweater is knit from the bottom up in circular rows. First, knit the body section of the pullover to the underarms, a ribbing band is knit before starting the pattern, then the body of the pullover is knit according to the chart. Then set the body stitches aside and knit the sleeves, mirroring the pattern and making even increases to shape the sleeve. The body and sleeve stitches are joined and the yoke is formed with decreases for the raglans until the neckline is formed with short rows. The neckline band is knitted in ribbing, hiding the holes at the underarms. Finally, the pullover is blocked to relax the fabric and smooth out the pattern.

NOTES

FIT: All measurements for the finished pullover are given based on the specified gauge.

The suggested positive ease allowance for a loose fit is 7-14 cm [2¾ - 5¼"]. The pullover can be tried on as you go, and with your gauge measurements before and after blocking, you can adjust the body length if desired by knitting more or fewer rows before joining the body and sleeves.

SHORT ROWS:

It is recommended to use the German Short Rows method as follows:

After turning the work, slip the 1st st with the yarn in front of the work, then wrap the yarn over the right needle from front to back so that a double stitch is formed on the needle. In the RS row, continue knitting the knit sts as indicated; in the WS row, pull the yarn from back to front and continue knitting the purl sts as indicated. If necessary, knit the double stitch as one stitch by knitting through both strands.

WORKING FROM THE CHART: Knit according to the chart from the bottom up, reading the chart from right to left, except for purling the short rows, where you read the chart from left to right. It is assumed that when working from the chart, you need to take into account the shape of the sleeves, raglans, and neckline to create a more harmonious look. This may mean that where certain sections will only knit part of the pattern according to the chart, it may be better to knit knit sts instead of making yarn overs and decreases. Make sure to always perform the yarn over in pairs with the corresponding decrease so that the number of stitches does not change.

It is important to remember the last row of the pattern chart when placing stitches on the holder to simplify continuing the pattern for the raglan section. The body and each section of the sleeve will be continued from different points of the chart.

BODY

Using needles No. 5, 80 / 100 cm long, cast on 164 (180) 194 (224) 240 (254) 270 (300) 314 sts using the Italian cast-on method and join the stitches in a circular row. Place a marker for the beginning of the circular row.

Knit in ribbing for 9 cm [3½"] (1 twisted knit st, 1 purl st).

Only sizes XS (-) M (L) - (2XL) - (-) 5XL:

+1KnitSt, knit in ribbing until the last st, 1 purl st.

Now there are 165 (180) 195 (225) 240 (255) 270 (300) 315 sts on the needles.

All sizes:

Switch to needles No. 5.5, 80 / 100 cm long and knit as follows:

Circular row 1: *1 purl st, 13 knit sts, 1 purl st*, repeat from * to * to the end.

Repeat circular row 1 another 6 times.

Now knit according to the chart until the body height reaches 31 (33) 33 (33) 34 (34) 34 (34) 34 cm [12¼ (13) 13 (13) 13½ (13½

 13½ (13½

 13½"] from the cast-on row. Repeat the pattern chart in each circular row 11 (12) 13 (15) 16 (17) 18 (20) 21 times.

Continuing to knit the pattern, knit 78 (84) 91 (104) 110 (115) 121 (132) 137 sts for the front, bind off 4 (6) 6 (8) 10 (12) 14 (18) 20 sts for the right underarm, knit 79 (84) 92 (105) 110 (116) 121 (132) 138 sts for the back, bind off 4 (6) 6 (8) 10 (12) 14 (18) 20 sts for the left underarm.

Now there are 157 (168) 183 (209) 220 (231) 242 (264) 275 sts on the needles.

Cut the yarn and place the stitches on a stitch holder, continue to knit the sleeves.

RIGHT SLEEVE

Using circular needles No. 5, 80/100 cm long (or double-pointed needles if you are not using the magic loop method), cast on 48 (48) 54 (54) 62 (62) 66 (66) 70 sts using the Italian cast-on method and join the stitches in a circular row. Place a marker for the beginning of the circular row.

Knit in ribbing for 7 cm [2¾"] (1 twisted knit st, 1 purl st).

Switch to needles No. 5.5 and starting from the corresponding place on the pattern chart, knit the pattern until the sleeve length reaches 44 (45) 45 (45) 45 (47) 47 (47) 47 cm [17¼ (17¾

 17¾ (17¾

 17¾ (18½

 18½ (18½

 18½"] from the cast-on row.

At the same time, increase every 18 (14) 14 (10) 10 (8) 8 (7) 7 circular rows 4 (6) 6 (8) 8 (11) 11 (12) 12 times as follows: +1KnitSt, knit the pattern to the end of the circular row, +1PurlSt. The added stitches are incorporated into the pattern (see Notes). After completing all increases, there will be 56 (60) 66 (70) 78 (84) 88 (90) 94 sts on the needles.

In the next circular row, continue knitting the pattern and bind off 2 (3) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 (8) 9 sts at the beginning and end of the next circular row. Now there will be 52 (54) 60 (62) 68 (72) 74 (74) 76 sts on the needles.

Cut the yarn and place the stitches on a stitch holder, continue to knit the other sleeve.

LEFT SLEEVE

Knit the same as the right sleeve, but start with circular row 15 of the pattern chart instead of row 1, as shown in the chart.

SHAPING THE RAGLANS

Using circular needles No. 5.5, 80 / 100 cm long, place the set-aside stitches on the needles and knit as follows:

52 (54) 60 (62) 68 (72) 74 (74) 76 sts for the left sleeve, 78 (84) 91 (104) 110 (115) 121 (132) 137 sts for the front, 52 (54) 60 (62) 68 (72) 74 (74) 76 sts for the right sleeve, 79 (84) 92 (105) 110 (116) 121 (132) 138 sts for the back. There will be a total of 261 (276) 303 (333) 356 (375) 390 (412) 427 sts on the needles.

Place a marker for the beginning of the circular row between the back and the left sleeve section and place markers before and after the first and last 5 sts of the front and back sections. These 8 markers define the raglan stitches.

Join the yarn and continue knitting according to the chart, decreasing stitches for the raglans as follows:

Only sizes - (-) - (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL:
