The Malta sweater is knitted in the round from the top down without seams. The sleeves are knitted in the round. Short rows are used for the yoke. The description includes two sleeve options: long with a cuff (as in the photo) and a variable length with lace at the bottom.

Yarn Harmony Zegna Baruffa (100% merino; 375 m/100 g) a) 350 b) 375 c) 400 d) 425 e) 450 f) 475 g) 500 g.
Any other yarn with a similar composition and yardage may also work. Be sure to knit a swatch, perform wet-blocking, and compare the density of your knitting with what is stated in this instruction.
TOOLS
Circular needles 3.0 and 3.5 mm, additional needles for knitting twisted stitches, 5 markers.
GAUGE
26 stitches x 38 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in stockinette stitch with 3.5 mm needles after wet-blocking. Note that when using different yarn and knitting with different density, you may get different dimensions for your product.

FORMING THE YOKE WITH SHORT ROWS
The neckline is knitted with short rows, using the wrap and turn method.
!!! Wrapping stitches. In the wrong row, knit up to the turning stitch, bring the yarn to the front. Without knitting, slip this stitch onto the right needle, bring the yarn to the back. Transfer the slipped stitch back to the left needle and turn the work. In the right row, knit up to the turning stitch, yarn at the back. Without knitting, slip this stitch onto the right needle, bring the yarn to the front.
Transfer the slipped stitch back to the left needle and turn the work. The slipped stitch will be a wrapped stitch. When subsequently knitting this stitch, it should be knitted together with the wrap, lifting it onto the needle in such a way that the wrap remains on the wrong side.

Bind off stitches according to the pattern in any convenient way. The Icelandic method of binding off was used in the sample. Cut the yarn.
RIGHT SLEEVE
Transfer the previously set aside sleeve stitches and a) 16 b) 16 c) 17 d) 17 e) 17 f) 17 g) 17 underarm stitches, unravelling the waste yarn, onto circular needles #3.5. On the right side of the work, join the yarn after 8 underarm stitches, PMBOR, and then knit in the round.

A straight long sleeve with a narrow cuff.
Knit stockinette stitch until the sleeve length is 38 cm from the armhole or 8 cm less than the desired length.

Similarly, knit the left sleeve.
Tapered sleeve of variable length with lace at the bottom.
Rows 1-10: PMBOR, knit K to BOR.
Row 11:

Knit 12 rows according to Chart #4. If the final number of stitches is not divisible by 2, knit the last two stitches of row 12 together knitwise.
Row 1: * Slip stitch as purl, yarn in front, 1 P.*.
Row 2: * 1 P., slip stitch as purl, yarn in front.
Row 3: knit stitches.
Bind off stitches according to the pattern in any convenient way. It is recommended to use the Icelandic method of binding off. Cut the yarn.
Similarly, knit the left sleeve.
FINISHING
Weave in the ends on the wrong side.
Wash the sweater. Hand washing in cool water with liquid detergent is suitable for knitted items. Do not wring the item. Gently squeeze out water, wrap the item in a towel to absorb excess moisture. You can lightly squeeze it in the towel.
Dry the sweater flat on a horizontal surface, shaping it as needed. Wait for it to dry completely.
