Size:42 (S) - Bust 84 cm
Knitting density: 14 stitches in 10 cm / 24 rows in 10 cm
Yarn: Gazzal Baby Cotton XL, Turkey (50 % cotton, 50 % acrylic) 50 g / 105 m
Tools: Circular needles No.4.5, Needle, Scissors, Stitch markers
Button bands
At the beginning and end of each row, knit the button band (buttonhole band).
The width of the bands is 7 stitches + 1 edge stitch. We knit in garter stitch, which means all stitches in both knit and purl rows are always KNIT. * The number of stitches for the band is odd, the buttonhole will be exactly in the center.
Cast on 127 stitches on one needle.
Rows 1-17: ribbing 1*1 with slipped stitches (in knit rows, slip the knit stitches without knitting, in purl rows knit all stitches according to the pattern):
(see diagram 1 or description below)
Row 1 (Purl):
Edge stitch + 7 Knit (band) + ribbing 1*1 with slipped stitches (*1 Knit, 1 Purl, repeat from *) + 7 Knit (band) + Edge stitch
Row 2 (Knit):
Edge stitch + 7 Knit (band) + ribbing 1*1 with slipped stitches (*1 Purl, 1 Knit slipped without knitting, repeat from *) + 7 Knit (band) + Edge stitch. Rows 3-17 are knitted by repeating rows 1 and 2.
Remember about the button bands!!!!
From row 18, knit according to the pattern.
Pattern repeat: 12 stitches / 6 rows (see diagram 2)
With this number of stitches, we get (9 full repeats + for symmetry of the pattern, the first three stitches of the beginning of the repeat)
Knit the repeat 6 times in height.
Rows 50 – 52 prepare the division into front and back, making increases to maintain the symmetry of the pattern.
Only in 2 places of the pattern where we will divide the knitting into front and back!!!!
33 stitches (front) + 1 (slipped Knit stitch 1 place ) + 59 stitches(back) + 1 (slipped Knit stitch 2 place ) + 33 stitches (front)
In each of the 2 specified places, knit as follows:
Row 50 (+1 stitch): from the 1st (slipped Knit stitch) we will derive 2 stitches: 1 slipped Knit stitch for the front + 1 slipped Knit stitch for the back.
Row 52 (+4 stitches): between the 2 slipped Knit stitches from the previous row, we derive 4 additional stitches:
1 Purl + 1 Knit (future edge) + 1 Knit (future edge) + 1 Purl.
Total additional increase + 10 stitches.
Row 54 divide the knitting into front and back: total 137 stitches.
36 (front) + 65 (back) + 36 (front)
Rows 54-71 continue to knit according to the pattern for another 3 repeats in height.
Rows 72-85 make symmetrical decreases to form the front neckline.
7 (center)-3-3-2-2-1-1
Rows 86-105 knit according to the pattern (17 stitches remain on each shoulder).
Rows 106-108 close the stitches in 2 passes (8+9 stitches).
Rows 54-89 continue to knit according to the pattern for another 6 repeats in height.
Rows 90-97 make symmetrical decreases to form the back neckline.
2-2-4-15 (center)-4-2-2
Rows 98-105 knit according to the pattern (17 stitches remain on each shoulder).
Rows 106-108 close the stitches in 2 passes (8+9 stitches).
Neckline
Sew the shoulder seams (17 stitches back + 17 stitches front).
For finishing the neckline, pick up stitches from the edge of the front/back.
Rows 1-10 ribbing 1*1 with slipped stitches (in knit rows, slip the knit stitches without knitting, in purl rows knit all stitches according to the pattern) (see diagram 1).
Remember about the upper button band!!!
Row 11 close the stitches.
Cast on for each sleeve 2 edge stitches + 39 stitches (3 full repeats + for symmetry of the pattern, the first three stitches of the beginning of the repeat).
If desired, you can knit the sleeves on circular needles, then you make the cast on without counting the edge stitches.
Rows 1-17 ribbing 1*1 with slipped stitches (in knit rows, slip the knit stitches without knitting, in purl rows knit all stitches according to the pattern) (see diagram 1).
Rows 18-107 knit according to the pattern for 15 repeats in height (see diagram 2):
Make increases symmetrically at the beginning and end of every 6th row.
First increase in row 18
A total of 15 increases of 2 stitches each.
Total number of stitches after all increases 65+15*2=69 stitches. Close stitches in row 108.
Sew the sleeves to the front/back with a hidden seam.
Using a hook or needle, weave in all the "tails" of the yarn.
Perform wet blocking (WET).
