Knitted Sweater

Added:             Views: 11772

Knitted Sweaterhttp://klubok.work/1/3/9109/Klubok

Yarn: The sweater is knitted from Drops Kid Silk yarn (kid mohair 70%, silk 30%), 210 meters/25 g, in two strands. But any yarn with the same composition and yardage will suit, for example: Lana Grossa SilkHair, BBB Soft dream, Lana Gatto Silk Mohair, Infinity Silk Mohair, Mohair by Canard Brushed Lace and others.

Usage: 8 skeins of 25 g

Sizes: 46-48 (Bust circumference: 95-99 cm)

Width of the garment at bust circumference:110 cm.

Sleeve width: 33 cm

Length of sleeve to armhole: 48 cm

Depth of the yoke: 20 cm

Back length including neck shaping: 55 cm

Ease at the bust is from 11 to 15 cm.

Gauge: Stockinette stitch 10 cm: 17.5 stitches 22 rows

(note that the gauge in 10 cm in the pattern will be different: 19 stitches/22 rows)

Be sure to knit a swatch of a large size, measure it, and block it. If the swatch changes size: stretched or shortened in length, take this into account when knitting the sweater.

Tools required for knitting:

Needles on a soft circular cord 80 cm long, size 5 mm for knitting the main body; circular needles 80 cm long, size 3 mm for knitting the ribbing; sewing needle; markers. For knitting the sleeves you can also use double-point needles 3 and 5 mm.

Description of work:

The sweater is worked in the round from bottom to top, seamless, except for the knitting seam “loop into loop” for finishing the underarms and neckline.

In the original, the sweater is slightly cropped, but you can adjust the length to your preferences. How to do this will be described below.

All knit and purl stitches are worked in the classic manner (through the front loop), unless otherwise indicated.

Knit stitch crossed is worked through the back loop.

I recommend starting the knitting with the sleeves, because on smaller pieces you can quickly understand the chart and the rhythm of the pattern; moreover, when the body is ready, it will be very pleasing to know that the sleeves are already there.

SLEEVES

Knitting the sleeves can be done simultaneously using the magic loop method, or knitted separately. The right and left sleeves are knitted identically as follows:

Cast on 57 stitches on circular needles size 3 mm by any stretchy method, join to knit in the round. With needles size 3 mm, you have 56 stitches. Knit 10 rounds in ribbing 1×3 (1 twisted knit, 3 purl). Switch to needles size 5 mm, knit one round with the same ribbing. Now, to shape the sleeve and continue the pattern, add 7 stitches as follows:

*Knit 8 stitches, increase 1 stitch from the purl bump, knit it twisted.

Repeat from * to end of row.

Now you have 63 stitches on the needles and you can switch to the main pattern (charts 1 and 2).

Mark every 21 stitches with markers, they represent one leaf. In the sleeve there are 3 leaves across and 5 repeats of leaves in height. One leaf repeat is 20 rows, so in total you need to knit 100 rows.

Chart 1 represents a leaf leaning to the right, and Chart 2 a leaf leaning to the left.

The highlighted knitted stitches on the charts are the centers of the leaves.

When knitting the first row of leaves, you should begin the pattern from the second row, since the first row of the pattern has already been knitted.

So, the sleeves are knitted as follows:

1st repeat (rows 1-20) - Chart 1 (starting from the second row of the chart, since the first row has already been knitted), 3 leaves leaning to the right;

2nd repeat (rows 21–40) - Chart 2, 3 leaves leaning to the left;

3rd repeat (rows 41–60) - Chart 1, 3 leaves leaning to the right;

4th repeat (rows 61–80) – Chart 2, 3 leaves leaning to the left;

5th repeat (rows 81–100) - Chart 1, 3 leaves leaning to the right.

(If you want to lengthen the sleeves, start knitting from Chart 2 and knit 6 repeats. Similarly you can shorten the length by starting from Chart 2 and knitting 4 repeats. Height of one repeat = 9 cm.)

After completing the last repeat, knit one row of stockinette stitches.

Without closing the stitches, transfer them to an extra cord. Cut the yarn, leaving 40 cm to perform the underarm seam in stockinette stitch.

BODY (BACK and FRONT)

When the sleeves are ready, you can proceed to knitting the body. Do this in the same way as for the sleeves: cast on 209 stitches on size 3 needles and join in the round. With needles size 3, knit 20 rows in ribbing 1×3 (1 twisted knit, 3 purl). Change to needles size 5 and knit one row with the same ribbing.

For the next pattern, evenly add 2 stitches: *knit 104 knit stitches, add 1 stitch from the purl bump – repeat from * once.

On needles with 210 stitches. Mark every 21 stitches with markers, which represent one leaf, there are 10 leaves in total. Knit the main pattern with 3 repeats of the leaf pattern as follows:

repeat 1 (rows 1-20) - Chart 1 (starting from the second row of the chart, since the first row has already been knitted), 10 leaves leaning to the right;

repeat 2 (rows 21–40) - Chart 2, 10 leaves leaning to the left;

repeat 3 (rows 41–60) - Chart 1, 10 leaves leaning to the right.

(The length of the body can be increased or decreased by 9 cm as follows: start knitting from Chart 2 and knit 4 repeats or 2 repeats respectively)

After completing the last repeat, knit one row of stockinette stitches.

NECKLINE

Switch to needles size 3 and knit two rows in stockinette. For the neckline you need to knit a 1×3 rib (1 twisted knit, 3 purl) for 20 rows.

Without closing the stitches, fold the ribbing in half inward and sew to the first row knitted on needles size 3 with a mattress stitch; sew the underarm edges with the same loop-to-loop seam.

Important! To ensure the sweater has nice folds along the pattern lines later, shape them on a damp-washed garment laid flat in a horizontal plane.
