YOU WILL NEED

Yarn (54% cotton, 46% viscose; 110 m/50 g) — 400 g of violet; needles No. 4.5; hook No. 4.

PATTERNS AND CHARTS

PATTERN OF EYELET STRIPES

The number of stitches is even. Begin and end each row with a selvedge stitch.

1st row: knit stitches;

2nd row: purl stitches;

3rd and 4th rows: knit stitches;

5th row: * 2 stitches knit together, yarn over, from * constantly repeat;

6th row: knit stitches;

7th–10th rows: knit as 1st–4th rows;

11th row: * 1 yarn over, 2 stitches knit together with a left-leaning decrease (= 1 stitch slipped as if to knit, the next stitch knitted and the slipped stitch passed over the knitted stitch), from * repeat;

12th row: knit stitches.

In height, repeat constantly from 1st to 12th rows.

LACE PATTERN

The number of stitches must be a multiple of 23 + 4 + 2 selvedge stitches. Knit according to the provided chart. The chart shows only knit rows; on wrong-side rows, stitches are to be knit as per the pattern, yarn-overs – purl. In width, start with the selvedge, continually repeat the pattern, ending with stitches after the repeat and the selvedge. In height, repeat from 1st to 16th rows.

PATTERN «SHELLS»

Crochet edging in the round: 1 slip stitch in the first stitch, * skip 3 stitches, in the next 7 stitches crochet double crochet, skip 3 stitches, in the next stitch make 1 slip stitch, from * repeat, with the last slip stitch of the round worked in the first slip stitch of the round.

GAUGE

18 stitches x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in the eyelet stripes pattern;
18.5 stitches x 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in lace pattern.

NOTE!

Back with the sleeves is knitted in the crosswise direction, and the left sleeve (when worn) at the start of knitting consists of two pieces. The front is knitted sleeveless from bottom to top. Arrows on the pattern indicate the knitting direction.

CONSTRUCTION

BACK AND SLEEVE

For the lower part of the sleeve, cast on 30 stitches and knit in the eyelet stripe pattern.

After 7.5 cm = 24 rows from the cast-on row, set the stitches aside temporarily.

The upper part of the sleeve is knitted similarly.

Then transfer the stitches of both parts to the working needles, picking up between them new 26 stitches (= armhole) and on all 86 stitches continue the work in the eyelet stripe pattern.

After 16.5 cm = 52 rows from the armhole, mark on both sides the end of the sleeve and the start of the back.

For the back, perform the following 40 cm = 124 rows and again mark the end of the back, the start of the right sleeve.

After 16.5 cm = 52 rows from the last marks, bind off the middle 26 stitches for the neckline on the right sleeve and on the outer 30 stitches on each side continue knitting according to the pattern for another 7.5 cm = 24 rows, and then bind off all stitches.

FRONT

Cast on 75 stitches and knit in the lace pattern.

After 47.5 cm = 128 rows from the cast-on, bind off all stitches.

ASSEMBLY

Fold the front with the back wrong sides together and fold the outer corners of the cast-on edge, corresponding to the secured edge on the back, so that they align with the center of the side edges of the front (= the same symbols on the pattern pieces). Sew the sleeve side edges (&= 24 cm) to the side edges of the front.

Cast-on edges/edges with bound-off stitches of the sleeves (&= about 30 cm) sew together (= these seams align with the center of the side edges of the front). Outer edges of the front and back (&= about 6 cm) sew = shoulder seams.

The central part of length 28 cm, forming the neckline edge, crochet 1 round of slip stitches. The lower edge crochet 1 round of the pattern «Shells».
