Approximately 7 1/2” wide and 68” long.
Materials
5 skeins (100% merino wool, 50g/115m);
Straight needles No. 3.5
Knitting gauge
21 stitches = 4”; 48 rows = 4”
To save knitting time, knit a swatch and compare it to the pattern.
Note: when knitting the scarf with the Wedge pattern, first knit from left to right, the next pattern block – from right to left.
Knitting the scarf
Note: The pattern is formed from short stripes that are knitted across the entire row, then the scarf is turned to the wrong side. The holes created by turning the knitting are part of the pattern.
On straight needles, cast on 40 stitches. Knit 13 rows in stockinette stitch.
Rows 1 and 2: (Yarn over, 2 purl together) 15 times, turn the work.
Rows 3 and 4: (Yarn over, 2 purl together) 13 times, turn the work.
Rows 5 and 6: (Yarn over, 2 purl together) 11 times, turn the work.
Rows 7 and 8: (Yarn over, 2 purl together) 9 times, turn the work.
Rows 9 and 10: (Yarn over, 2 purl together) 7 times, turn the work.
Rows 11 and 12: (Yarn over, 2 purl together) 5 times, turn the work.
Rows 13 and 14: (Yarn over, 2 purl together) 3 times, turn the work.
Repeat the pattern until the length of the scarf reaches 67” from the start of knitting, knit the last 13 rows in stockinette stitch. Bind off the stitches.
