Neck warmer knitted by vera rostovskaya
At your request, I will explain how to knit a neck warmer. I am not revealing anything new here. There are plenty of descriptions and videos on the internet. But I find videos on knitting tiring. If you also prefer text, then make yourself comfortable, grab a ball of your favorite yarn, knitting needles, and join in on knitting the neck warmer. You can use various yarns with a length of 200-250 m per 100 g, the main thing is that it keeps you warm and is not prickly. I have Yarn Pekhorka Crossberry Brazil in two strands. I use circular needles size 2.5. We start knitting with ribbing. I knitted for a head circumference of 50 cm. To calculate the required number of stitches, knit a sample of 1x1 ribbing and stretch it as much as possible. The ribbing should be knitted tightly to hold its shape and fit snugly around the neck. Determine how many stitches fit in 10 cm of the stretched fabric. Divide this number by 10 to find out how many stitches correspond to 1 cm. Now multiply this number by the head circumference to get the required number of stitches for casting on. It is preferable that this number is divisible by 4 for further shaping of the raglan. I had 15 stitches in 10 cm. So 1.5×50=75 stitches. I added 1 stitch for divisibility by 4. In total, 76 stitches. So, cast on the calculated number of stitches on the needles, I have 76 stitches. Join in a circle. Knit 1x1 ribbing for 16 cm. You can knit the height of the neck according to your preference, just remember that it will be folded down. Next, knit 1 row in knit stitches. After that, divide the entire knitting into 4 equal parts. I have 76/4 = 19 stitches, one stitch from each part goes to the raglan line. I prefer the seam of the knitting to be right at the back (see the diagram in the gallery). Mark the raglan lines, and from both sides of which make increases every other row using twisted yarn overs. Knit like this for 5-5.5 cm. It all depends on the size of the baby. Therefore, you can gently try it on the client and stop when the knitting reaches the shoulder joint. After that, knit 2-4 rows without increases in garter stitch on needles one size larger, to avoid tightening the edge. Close the stitches by knitting 2 purl stitches and returning the resulting stitch back to the left needle. Be careful not to tighten. Cut the yarn. Hide the ends. And that's it. Ready for winter!
