Slippers knitted with needles in patchwork style, descriptionKlubokhttp://klubok.work/1/53/7298/Klubokhttps://klubok.work/css/image/top-logo-en.pngSlippers are knitted using garter stitch: both the right and wrong rows are knitted using knit stitches. How to calculate the size: the length of the slipper sole equals two diagonals of a square. For accurate calculation, knit a test square/sample. The sample should be knitted with the same needles and yarn that you will use for the final product. For example: knit a square of 10 stitches x 20 rows (in garter stitch). Pin it with sewing pins, slightly stretching/smoothing it, say, to a blanket. Measure the length of the diagonal of the square, multiply by 2 = the length of the future slipper sole. For example: foot length 25 cm = square diagonal 12.5 cm x 2 = sole length. Based on the sample calculations, determine the required number of stitches. To ensure that the squares are square, it is important to maintain knitting density: 10 stitches x 20 rows should visually look like a square. If you ended up with a "slightly rectangular" shape, don't be upset - a slight skew of the sides will straighten out during assembly. When working with several shades of yarn, it is important that the thickness of the yarns is the same. In my slippers: 3 shades were used. In the diagram, they are conditionally marked - green, gray, white with green dots (square #5). The fifth square is knitted using the jacquard technique - by alternating white and green yarns in a checkerboard pattern (2 stitches of white color x 2 stitches of green color). Start of work: for convenience, make a sketch with colored pencils (fig. 1 and 2), indicating the sequence of color square changes according to your idea. Tip: for the squares forming the sole (№3 and №6), it is advisable to choose yarn in a darker shade. You can add a thin synthetic thread to prevent the toe and heel from wearing out too quickly. Cast on the required number of stitches according to your calculations. Knit square #1 in garter stitch (see above), then change the yarn color and continue working - square #2, then #3, and so on. After knitting seven squares, bind off stitches = you should get a colorful "scarf" made of seven squares. Then, along the right edge of square #2, cast on stitches for square #7. Knit square #7, bind off stitches. Then, along the left edge of square #6, cast on stitches for square #8. Knit square #8, bind off stitches. The preparation for the slipper is ready (fig. 1). Assembly: (see figure 1)
To assemble the slipper, you need to make five seams. Tip: do not pull the seams too tight. The seam should be elastic, so the slippers will fit nicely to the shape of the foot. For those who do not understand the numbered arrows, I marked the sewing points with a colored marker - sew the green line to the green, blue to blue, and so on. Fold the preparation so that squares #1 and 2 align with squares #3 and 4. In the diagram, the folding line is marked with a red dotted line. Make the first seam - marked with red dots. Then fold squares #6 and 8 with squares #3 and 4 - the lines marked with blue dots should align - second seam. Proceed similarly. Carefully hide the yarn tails on the wrong side, trim the excess, and turn the slipper inside out. The first slipper is ready. Knit the second one in the same way. Optionally, you can decorate it as you wish.
