Fitted top with simple braids and three diagonal braids in the front.

Sizes:

X-S, S, M, L

Garment sizes:

  • Bust circumference: 81 (86, 91.5, 96.5) cm

  • Length: 51 (54.5, 58.5, 62) cm

  • Length to armhole: 28 (30.5, 33, 33.5) cm

Materials:

  • 5 (6, 7, 7) skeins of bamboo yarn, 50 g / 126 m

  • Needles 3, 3.5 and 3.75 mm (adjust to your knitting gauge)

  • Circular needles 3.5 mm, 40 cm long

  • Cable needle

  • Markers

Knitting gauge:

24 stitches and 32 rows = 10 cm of stockinette stitch on larger needles

Front

Using smaller needles, cast on 88 (94, 100, 106) stitches.
Start with the right side, knit ribbing 2×2 (2 knit, 2 purl) — 4 rows.
Switch to larger needles.

Cable pattern distribution:

1st row (right side):
4 (7, 10, 13) knit, 6 purl, 1 knit, 4 purl, 1 knit, 6 purl, 61 (64, 67, 70) knit, marker, 6 purl, 1 knit, 4 purl, 1 knit, 6 purl, 4 (7, 10, 13) knit.

Repeat this row 3 more times.

5th row:
52 (55, 58, 61) knit, marker (1), 1 knit, 6 purl, 1 knit, marker (2), 4 purl, marker (3), 1 knit, 6 purl, 1 knit, marker (4), 4 purl, marker (5), 1 knit, 6 purl, 1 knit, marker (6), 4 (7, 10, 13) knit.

In the pattern with diagonal cables (right side):

  • 1st row: knit to 2 stitches before the first marker, knit 2 together, knit to the second marker, slip marker, 1 knit, 6 purl, 1 knit, place marker — this is the central cable, repeat.

  • In the 2nd row: knit stitches as they appear.

  • In every 4th row, perform cable crossings (using the cable needle) — as shown in the diagram.

Continue to increase at the sides every 8–10 rows until the total number of stitches reaches 144 (154, 164, 174).

Armholes (front)

When the length of the garment from the beginning reaches 23 (25, 27, 29) cm, start to shape the armholes:

  • Bind off 2 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.

  • Then decrease 1 stitch from each side every 2nd row: 6 (6, 8, 10) times.

  • At the same time, continue knitting the diagonal cables until the length to the armhole reaches 12–14 cm.

  • Stop when 23 (25, 27, 29) rows have been knitted from the start of the armhole.

Back

Knit similarly to the front, but without diagonal cables.
When the length to the armhole reaches 25.5 cm, bind off for the shoulder 2 times 8 (8, 8, 9) stitches, then bind off the middle 24 (26, 28, 30) stitches for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately.

Sleeves

  • Cast on 60 (66, 72, 78) stitches.

  • Knit ribbing 2x2 — 6 rows

  • Switch to stockinette stitch

  • Increase 1 stitch from each side every 6th row 8 (8, 9, 9) times = 76 (82, 90, 96) stitches.

  • At a height of 25.5 cm, bind off for the cap 1 time 2 stitches, then decrease 1 stitch from each side every 2nd row until 30 (32, 34, 36) stitches remain.

  • Bind off the remaining stitches.

  • Assembling the garment

    1. Sew the shoulder seams.

    2. Neckline:

      • Pick up stitches along the neckline edge on circular needles 3.0 mm:
approximately 3 stitches for every 4 rows along the sides of the neckline, as well as 1 stitch from each bound-off stitch on the straight sections.

      • Knit ribbing 2×2 in the round for 4 rows.

      • Bind off stitches according to the pattern.

    3. Sew the sleeves to the armholes.

    4. Sew the side seams and the sleeve seams.

    Final tips

    • Before wet blocking (steam blocking), make sure that the top is not twisted and that all parts match in size.

    • Gently steam the garment through a damp cloth or fabric, especially in the area of the cables — do not press with the iron to avoid flattening the texture.

    • Optionally, you can crochet the bottom of the garment with 1 row of "crab stitch" for better fixation.

    • Neckline (rounding the front)

To round the neckline, bind off:

      • 1 time 3 stitches,

      • 2 times 2 stitches.

At the same time, continue to bind off the shoulder:

      • Bind off 4 times 4 stitches.

      • Bind off the remaining 3 stitches.

Knit the second side of the neckline symmetrically.

      Back

Cast on and knit ribbing as for the front.
Then continue only with stockinette stitch, making side increases, increases for the sleeve.
Bind off the shoulder and neckline as for the front.

      Assembly

Sew the side and shoulder seams.

      Armhole edging

Using circular needles from the right side, cast on:
      72 (80, 84, 92) stitches.
Knit in the round with ribbing 2×2 for 8 rows.
Bind off in the rhythm of the ribbing.

      Neckline edging

Using circular needles from the right side, cast on 136 stitches.
Knit in the round for 8 rows with ribbing 2×2.
Bind off in the rhythm of the ribbing.
