I cast on stitches as described: cast on 170 sts = 13 repeats of 13 sts + 1 edge stitch, but without the edge stitch (i.e., 169 sts), since it was easier for me to start knitting in the round right away. Since my yarn was thinner, I used thinner needles than recommended. The neckline turned out small, and I didn’t need to gather it later. The main thing is that the head fits through. I tried it on. I left the sleeve stitches open (slipped them onto a very thick linen thread so I could try it on while working). Later, I unraveled the chains and knitted small sleeves on the open stitches of the armholes and sleeves according to the pattern for a few rows. Since the needles were on a cable, I could try everything on while knitting. The yarn was thin, so I repeated the diamond pattern and then knitted stockinette stitch in front of the border, as much as I liked (until I got tired of it, i.e., in the 71st row I didn’t make lace between the triangles, but knitted stockinette, and only when the width of the stockinette strip satisfied me, I started knitting the middle part of the pattern until I got the border as shown in the diagram. I could have increased the border (I don’t even remember if I did this or not, I think I added a couple of rows) — it all depends on desire and proportions. Since I have thin yarn, I had to knit many more rows than indicated in the diagram, otherwise my top would have ended right under the bust. I understand that you also have thin yarn, so you will have to add rows as well, and possibly repeats under the arms (maybe not just one — it all depends on the thickness of the yarn and your size, but it’s not difficult to calculate, the main thing is that your arms fit through the armholes and you can lift them, and your torso fits in the rest of the top). In this kind of knitting, everything depends on trying it on. If you, after separating the sleeves and pinning them with pins, feel that it’s a bit tight — add a few stitches when joining the front and back by casting them on the needle with the working yarn.
