Elastic band 2x2

1. For men's pullovers, a 2x2 ribbing may be needed. Nothing is easier! It is derived from 1x1 ribbing. So, we knit 3 rows of 1x1 ribbing:
2.1 row: selvedge, *purl, yarn over* to the end of the row, finishing depending on whether we need an even or odd number of stitches, in the first case we knit yarn over, selvedge, in the second - yarn over, purl, selvedge. Turn the work.

3.2 row: the stitches that were purled in the previous row are knitted as knit stitches, yarn overs are slipped as purls, yarn in front of the stitch. Turn the work.
4. Next, we repeat only the second row, making another 4 rows (two in one direction, two in the other). The number of rows can be more or less – less is undesirable: the edge will not hold well.
5. Now the most interesting part: from 1x1 ribbing, a 2x2 ribbing magically appears!
6.7 row: selvedge, *purl, knit the stitch from the additional needle in front of the work, purl, knit the stitch from the additional needle, knit* to the end of the row. Turn the work.
7.8 row: selvedge, *2 purls, 2 knits* to the end of the row. Turn and knit the required number of rows.
8. After the 7th row, you can transfer the work to double-pointed needles and knit the fabric in the round (cuffs, neckline, bottom of the item).
