The empty front stitch, the back stitch with a dot,
K8P = slip 4 stitches to the auxiliary needle behind the work, 4 knit, then knit 4 from the auxiliary needle.
K8L = slip 4 stitches to the auxiliary needle in front of the work, 4 knit, then knit 4 from the auxiliary needle.
For knitting a scarf, thick yarn and 8-10 mm needles are suitable. Cast on 48 stitches and repeat 8 rows of the pattern until the scarf reaches the desired length.
1st row (RS): [1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl, 12 knit] repeat 3 times, 1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl.
2nd row (WS): [1 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit, 12 knit] repeat 3 times, 1 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit.
3rd row: [1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl, K8P] repeat 3 times, 1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl.
4th row: [1 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit, 12 purl] repeat 3 times, 1 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit.
5th row: [1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl, 12 knit] repeat 3 times, 1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl.
6th row: [1 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit, 12 purl] repeat 3 times, 1 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit.
