Lace Braids

Lace braid – a great decoration for a sweater, cardigan, or any other clothing.

Below is the method for knitting such a braid. The following abbreviations are used in the description of the work:

- st - stitch

- fwd - front stitch

- 2 tog fwd – 2 together front stitches

- pwd – purl stitch

- yo - yarn over

- WS - wrong side 

- RS – right side

- dp - double pointed needle

- lp - left needle

Technical techniques for creating a beautiful pattern with knitting needles

To/right 2x2 – transfer 2 sts to dp, leaving WS; knit 2 fwd from lp; knit 2 fwd from dp.

To/left 2x2 – transfer 2 sts to dp, leaving RS; knit 2 fwd from lp; knit 2 fwd from dp.

To/right 4x4 – transfer 4 sts to dp, leaving it WS; knit 4 fwd from lp; knit 4 fwd from dp.

Dec/left – move 2 sts from lp to rp; return them back, twisting each st; pick up rp 2 sts from left to right and knit 2 tog fwd through the front loop.

Cast on sts, the number must be a multiple of 10.

1st row: 1 pwd; 8 fwd; 1 pwd.

2nd row and all even: 1 fwd; 8 pwd; 1 fwd.

3rd row: 1 pwd; 8 fwd; 1 pwd.

5th row: 1 pwd; 4 fwd; 1 yo; Dec/left; 2 fwd; 1 pwd.

7th row: 1 pwd; To/right 2x2; 1 fwd; 1 yo; Dec/left; 1 fwd; 1 pwd.

9th row: 1 pwd; 6 fwd; 1 yo; Dec/left; 1 pwd.
