The number of stitches is a multiple of 6 and 12 rows for the pattern.
1  row: *4 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches, repeat from *
2  row: *2 knit stitches, 4 purl stitches, repeat from *
3  row: knit as row 1.
4  row: knit as row 2.
5  row: 2 knit stitches, *2 purl stitches, 4 knit stitches, repeat from * to the last 4 stitches, 2 purl stitches, 2 knit stitches
6  row: 2 purl stitches, *2 knit stitches, 4 purl stitches, repeat from * to the last  4 stitches, 2 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches
7  row: knit as row 5.
8  row: knit as row 6.
9  row: *2 purl stitches, 4 knit stitches, repeat from *
10 row: *4 purl stitches, 2 knit stitches, repeat from *11 row: knit as row 9.
12 row: knit as row 10.
Repeat rows 1-12 for the pattern.
