Pattern Leaves

A very beautiful pattern Leaves. Based on knit and purl stitches, the 3x1 rib is complemented with elongated stitches. At first glance, the pattern seems complicated, but in fact, even a beginner can handle it.

So, let's get comfortable and get to work!

For the sample pattern, we cast on a number of stitches that is a multiple of 4 +1 stitch for symmetry +2 edge stitches.

The pattern repeat consists of 4 stitches in width and 12 rows in height, of which 10 rows are knitted in a 3x1 rib.

Row 1 - edge. * 1 purl., 3 knit. * 1 purl, edge.

Row 2 - edge. * 1 knit. 3 purl. * 1 knit, edge.

Rows 3, 4, 5 - as per pattern

We have completed 5 rows in a 3x1 rib

Row 6 - edge. * (we will start knitting the leaf with the next knit stitch) we insert the needle 5 knit rows below and pull out the long first stitch

hold the stitch and insert the needle 4 rows below, pull out the second stitch, 3 rows below, pull out the third stitch, 2 rows below, pull out the fourth stitch, 1 row below, pull out the fifth stitch

we have 5 elongated stitches on our needle

yarn in front of knitting, we will purl the knit stitch

now all elongated stitches need to be passed over the purled stitch in order. First the elongated 5th stitch, then the elongated 4th stitch, then the elongated 3rd, 2nd, and 1st stitches, this forms a leaf, 3 purl. * leaf, edge.

and we pull out the long first stitch

hold the stitch and insert the needle 4 rows below, pull out the second stitch, 3 rows below, pull out the third stitch, 2 rows below, pull out the fourth stitch, 1 row below, pull out the fifth stitch

we have 5 elongated stitches on our needle

yarn in front of knitting, we will purl the knit stitch

now all elongated stitches need to be passed over the purled stitch in order. First the elongated 5th stitch

then the elongated 4th stitch

then the elongated 3rd, 2nd, and 1st stitches

then 3 purl, and so on to the end of the row

Row 7 - edge. * 2 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit. * 1 knit, edge.

Row 8 - edge. * 2 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl. * 1 purl, edge.

Rows 9, 10, 11 - as per pattern

Row 12 - edge.* 2 purl, leaf, 1 purl. * edge.

Then the pattern repeats from row 1
