This can be used as an independent pattern or as a ribbing, it will look very great on hats. The repeat is 5 stitches and 2 rows. It is very easy to knit and results in such beauty!

For flat knitting, cast on a number of stitches that is a multiple of 5+2 (plus 2 edge stitches, e.g., 24 stitches) and knit according to the pattern:

Row 1: edge, 2 purl, *yarn over, 3 together knitwise through the back loop, yarn over, 2 purl*, repeat from * to * to the end of the row, edge.

Row 2: edge, *2 knit, cross 3 stitches to the right (first knit the third stitch purlwise, then knit the first and second stitches purlwise, 2 knit, edge.

Repeat the pattern from rows 1 to 2.
