Pattern repeat 9 stitches + 1 + edge stitches.
Row 1 (right side): edge, *knit, yarn over, 8 knit, yarn over* knit, edge.
Row 2: edge, 2 knit, (yarn over always knit without twisting), 8 purl, knit*, knit, edge.
Row 3: edge, *2 knit, yarn over, 8 knit, yarn over, knit*, knit, edge.
Row 4: edge, *3 knit, 8 purl, 2 knit*, knit, edge.
Row 5: edge, *3 knit, yarn over, 8 knit, yarn over, 2 knit*, knit, edge.
Row 6: edge, *4 knit, 8 purl, 3 knit*, knit, edge.
Row 7: edge, *4 knit, 4 stitches together knitwise through the back loop, 4 stitches together knitwise through the front loop, 3 knit*, knit, edge.
Row 8: edge, all knit, edge.
Repeat the pattern from rows 1 to 8.
