Cast on a number of stitches multiple of 5 + 2 edge stitches.

Rows 1 and 2: edge, knit stitches, edge
Row 3: edge, purl stitches, edge.
Row 4: edge, knit stitches, edge.
Rows 5 and 6: edge, knit stitches, edge
Row 7: edge, *skip 2 stitches, go down under the third stitch 6 rows down and pull out a long stitch, then knit 2, pull out the stitch again, knit 3, pull out the stitch*, edge.
Row 8: edge, *2 together knit through the front loop, 1 knit, 2 together knit through the back loop, 1 knit, 2 together knit through the back loop*, edge.
Repeat rows 1 to 8.
