Knitting pattern

This stitch pattern is ideal for knitting cardigans, jumpers, sweaters, and cushions.
You can knit the entire garment with this pattern, or you can run a single cable, for example on the front panels or sleeves of the jumper.
The pattern repeat consists of 16 stitches and 10 rows.
The cable itself consists of 12 stitches, plus 4 purl stitches, this is how it is in my case. However, there may be more or fewer purl stitches, up to you.
Description of knitting the pattern in turning rows:
To work the pattern in turning rows, cast on a number of stitches that is a multiple of 16, plus 4 stitches for symmetry, plus 2 edge stitches.
Row 1: edge stitches, * 4 purl, 4 knit, yarn over, knit 2 together to the right, knit 2 together to the left, yarn over, 4 knit.*, 4 purl, edge stitches.
Row 2: edge stitches, * 4 knit, 12 purl.*, 4 knit, edge stitches.
Row 3: edge stitches, * 4 purl, 4 knit, yarn over, knit 2 together to the right, knit 2 together to the left, yarn over, 4 knit.*, 4 purl, edge stitches.
Row 4: edge stitches, * 4 knit, 12 purl.*, 4 knit, edge stitches.
Row 5: edge stitches, * 4 purl, 4 knit, yarn over, knit 2 together to the right, knit 2 together to the left, yarn over, 4 knit.*, 4 purl, edge stitches.
Row 6: edge stitches, * 4 knit, 12 purl.*, 4 knit, edge stitches.
Row 7: edge stitches, * 4 purl, 4 knit, yarn over, knit 2 together to the right, knit 2 together to the left, yarn over, 4 knit.*, 4 purl, edge stitches.
Row 8: edge stitches, * 4 knit, 12 purl.*, 4 knit, edge stitches.
Row 9: edge stitches, * 4 purl, 4 stitches left on an auxiliary needle behind the work, knit 2, knit the 4 stitches from the auxiliary needle, 2 stitches left on an auxiliary needle in front of the work, knit the 4 stitches, then knit the 2 stitches from the auxiliary needle*, 4 purl, edge stitches.
Row 10: edge stitches, * 4 knit, 12 purl.*, 4 knit, edge stitches.
Then repeat from Row 1 to Row 10.
