Rows 3, 5, 7 (RS): edge st., * 3 purl st., slip 2 stitches to a cable needle behind work, 1 knit st., knit 2 stitches from cable needle, slip 1 stitch to a cable needle in front of work, 2 knit st., knit 1 stitch from cable needle, 3 purl st., 6 knit st.,* 3 purl st., edge st.

Rows 8, 10, 12: edge st., * 3 knit st., 2 purl st., slip 2 stitches purlwise with yarn in front, 2 purl st., 3 knit st., 6 purl st., * 3 knit st., edge st.
