What can be crocheted with the CROCODILE SKIN pattern? Everything, absolutely everything you want. This pattern is used to knit shawls, scarves, blankets, hats, socks, mittens... there are so many options. Since the pattern itself is very beautiful and can give any product a stylish and impressive look. The pattern is not difficult to crochet, below I present to your attention the scheme and video master class. There is even a bag made of plastic bags, so you can crochet not only with yarn)
Here is the pattern scheme
Description.
To knit a sample, cast on a chain of 13 ch.
Row 1. 3 ch for rise (replace 1 dc), 1 dc in the fourth stitch from the hook, * 2 ch, 2 dc in the third stitch from the previous columns, - repeat from * to the end of the chain. You should get a strip in the form of a grid of two double crochets and two chain stitches between them, which will become the basis for crocheting crocodile scales (further - the grid).
Row 2.- Crochet 5 dc, inserting the hook into the hole between the last two columns of the previous row as if you were trying to wrap the last column from the side of the grid;
- 1 ch (to sharpen the scale);
- with the next 5 dc, you need to wrap the neighboring column (the penultimate in the grid), first turning the work to the wrong side, inserting the hook around the column in the direction from the beginning of the grid to the end.
One scale is ready.
- Skip the next 2 double crochets from the grid.
Without making any rise stitches, wrap the next 2 columns (the third pair of columns from the end of the grid) in the same way. (5 dc in the right column, 1 ch, 5 dc in the left column.) That is, the scale is formed by wrapping two columns that are located between the arches of two ch. Wrapping occurs from right to left, starting from the top of the right column, then wrapping the entire right column, then making a ch to move to the neighboring left column, turning the work counterclockwise, crochet 5 dc, starting from the bottom of the left column, finishing by wrapping its top.
Skip the next pair of columns and knit the scale in the first columns of the grid.
There should be three scales.
If the description is not clear on how to do this, it is better to watch the video.
Thus, two rows of the pattern result in one row in height. The crocodile scales are located in front, and behind the work - the grid of dc and ch.
In principle, knowledge of these two rows is already enough to continue crocheting this pattern, but beginners may require further instructions.
Row 3 – continuation of the first, it will also be the basis for the next row of scales. In addition, it connects the base strip and the crocodile scales together.
After finishing crocheting the 5th double crochet of the last scale, turn the work.
Make 1 ch, 1 slip stitch in the center of the scale, 3 ch, 1 dc, * 2 ch, 2 dc between two dc of the first row that were skipped while crocheting the scales, simultaneously catching the place between the scales from the front side to secure the scales with the grid;
2 ch, 2 dc in the center of the scale, repeat from * once more.
You will get the same grid of 5 pairs of columns and ch, as when crocheting the first row.
The crocodile pattern can be performed in two versions: with the displacement of the pattern in a checkerboard order and without.
If no displacements are made, then row 4 should be crocheted like row 2.
To arrange the scales in a checkerboard order, crochet as follows.
Row 4. After crocheting the last double crochet in row three, turn the work. Skip the first two columns and crochet the scale in the next pair of columns in the same way as described in row 2. In this row, there will be two scales.
Finish the row with a slip stitch at the top ch from the rise of row three.
Row 5 differs from row three in that it does not require making a rise ch and a slip stitch from the center of the scale. You should immediately start the row with 3 ch for rise, then crochet as in row 3.
Then alternate all odd rows 3 and 5, and all even rows alternate 2 and 4 rows.
This pattern can be crocheted in a circle. You can make decreases and increases by reducing or increasing the number of pairs of columns in the pattern grid.
The crocodile pattern is used for crocheting hats, bags, dresses, skirts, mittens, scarves, shawls, as a decorative motif.
