KNITTING A BEAUTIFUL ROSE WITH A HOOK STEP 1 Make a "magic" ring and do not tighten it. STEP 2 Make a chain of 2 air loops (ch.) and crochet 15 double crochets (dc) into the ring, closing the round by joining with a slip stitch (sl st) into the top of the first chain. STEP 6 Using a sl st, move to the first arch of the previous round and, starting with 1 ch., crochet 1 half double crochet (hdc), 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc under the arch - this is the first inner petal of the rose. STEP 7 *Crochet 1 sc under the next arch, STEP 8 Under the next stitch, crochet another petal, this time instead of the first ch., crochet 1 sc*, repeat steps 7 and 8 from *to* 2 more times = you have 4 petals.
