First, you need to create a circle.
The circle is made as follows:
Make a chain of 3-4 air stitches, closing with a slip stitch into a ring.
You can crochet with double crochet, half double crochet, or single crochet according to the following scheme:
Row 1 - crochet 12-14 double crochets into the ring (in the very center)
Row 2 - crochet 2 stitches in each stitch of the 1st row
Row 3 - crochet 2 stitches in every 2nd stitch of the 2nd row
Row 4 - crochet 2 stitches in every 3rd stitch of the 3rd row
Row 5 - crochet 2 stitches in every 4th stitch of the 4th row
In the following rows, increase less often, in the 5th, then in the 6th stitch of the previous row, controlling that the circle does not narrow, but also does not form ruffles.
If the item is not flat, it is necessary to change the number of increases in the row (if it narrows – increase, if it expands – decrease).
You can crochet the circle in two ways – in a spiral, where each row smoothly transitions to the next, or restart each row (the first method is more convenient).
Crochet the circle until it reaches a diameter of 23-26 cm. After that, crochet a few rows (3-5 cm) without increases.
And to finish the work – decrease every 5th stitch for three or more rows in a row, so that the edge of the beret matches the head circumference, controlling that a smooth circle is formed.
The edge of the beret can be finished with several rows of single crochet..
