Lacy Jumper with Mesh Stitch

Size: 44–46
Category: Sweaters and Pullovers

You will need:

  • Yarn: cotton yarn in pink-pink color

  • Hook: No. 3–3.5

Pattern:

  • Presented in Figure 1 (see image)

  • The jumper consists of two rectangular pieces: the front and back, knitted horizontally, and sleeves

  • Assembly is done by sewing and edging

Model Description:

The jumper is made using mesh stitch — a knitting technique where double crochets and chains alternate, creating a lacy "net".

The model is versatile: it pairs well with jeans, trousers, skirts, and can be easily adapted in length and width. Thanks to the horizontal knitting, you can adjust the fit by changing the number of stitches.

How to Knit the Back:

  1. Cast on a chain of 138–140 chain stitches

  2. Knit according to the mesh stitch pattern (see below)

  3. Shaping the neckline:

    • Leave the center unworked

    • Continue knitting the right and left sides separately

  4. After reaching the desired height, connect the halves and finish the back

How to Knit the Front:

  1. Similarly to the back: cast on 138–140 chain stitches

  2. The neckline is shaped slightly deeper than on the back

Sleeves:

  • Made separately, in a rectangular shape

  • Then sewn into the armholes

  • Edging on the sleeves and neckline — edging with a row of mesh stitch

Assembly:

  • Make the side seams and sleeve seams

  • Edge the neckline and the sleeve edges with 1 row of mesh stitch

Pattern Scheme (Mesh Stitch):

Legend:

  • + — double crochet

  • o — chain stitch

The repeat of the pattern is 4 stitches: 1 dc + 1 chain stitch.
(see the pattern below in the image — 20 rows)

Tip:

Make a gauge swatch and calculate your knitting density to accurately determine the width and length of the item according to the pattern.
