Crochet booties from Megan Mills

You will need: 2 x 25 gram balls of Patons Dream Time baby wool and a 2.5 m crochet hook

To crochet the daisy pattern well, do not crochet too tightly. The stitch pulled from the same place where the last daisy ended should be slightly longer than all the other stitches.

Sole, insole:
1st round: Chain 20 loosely. 1 half double crochet in the third stitch from the hook, 1 double crochet in each of the next 16 stitches, 4 half double crochets in the next stitch. Now crochet along the other side of the main chain with 1 double crochet in each of the next 16 stitches and 1 half double crochet in the same place where the first stitch of the round was made. Join the round with a slip stitch in the second stitch of the beginning of the round.
2nd round: 3 chains, 1 double crochet in the same stitch, 2 double crochets in each of the next 3 stitches, 1 double crochet in each of the next 13 stitches, 2 double crochets in each of the next 7 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next 13 stitches, 2 double crochets in each of the next 2 stitches. Join the round with a slip stitch to the third chain at the beginning of the round.
3rd round: slip stitch in the next stitch, 3 chains, 2 double crochets in each of the next 5 stitches, 1 double crochet in each of the 16 stitches, 2 double crochets in each of the next 10 stitches, 1 double crochet in each of the next 16 stitches, 2 double crochets in each of the next 4 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch (into the base of the 3 chains). Join the round with a slip stitch to the third chain at the beginning of the round. Now there are 72 stitches.

Side:
4th round: Start the round with a starting daisy - 2 chains (keep the third stitch a bit looser so it is easy to crochet), insert the hook through the back loop of the second stitch from the hook, yarn over and pull through the stitch, insert the hook behind the back loop of the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch, insert the hook into the back loop of the same space where the third stitch started, yarn over and pull through the stitch, (insert the hook behind the back loop of the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch) twice, yarn over and pull through all 6 stitches on the hook, 1 chain and continue crocheting daisies (each subsequent daisy is crocheted as follows: insert the hook from the left side through the chain that was just made, yarn over and pull through the stitch, insert the hook from the left side into just one part of the left side of the last daisy (this is where the last stitch pulled from the previous daisy is), yarn over and pull through the stitch, insert the hook into the same place where the last daisy ended, yarn over and pull through the stitch, (insert the hook into the back loop of the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch) twice, yarn over and pull through all 6 stitches on the hook, make 1 chain) and so on. Join the round with a single crochet in the third chain of the starting daisy at the beginning of the round. There should be 36 daisies.
Here is a video on crocheting daisies

5th round: 1 chain, 1 single crochet in the top of the same daisy, *1 single crochet in the same stitch, 1 single crochet in the top of the next daisy, repeat from * around the whole round and finish the row with 1 single crochet in the next stitch. Join the round with a slip stitch in the back loop of the first single crochet.
6th round: repeat the 4th round.
7th round: treating the chains and tops of the daisies as in the 5th round, 1 chain, 10 single crochets with decreases (crocheting 2 single crochets together), 1 single crochet in each of the next 36 stitches, crochet 2 single crochets together 8 times. Join the edge with a slip stitch in the first single crochet with decrease at the beginning of the row. Now there are 54 stitches left.

Boot leg:
1st row: 1 chain, 1 single crochet in the same stitch, 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, turn.
2nd row: 1 chain, crochet 1 single crochet in each stitch and behind the back loop throughout the leg and then 1 single crochet in the next 2 free stitches on the side, turn.
3rd row: 1 chain, crochet 1 single crochet in each stitch and behind the front loop throughout the leg and then 1 single crochet in the next free stitch on the side, turn.
4th row: 1 chain, crochet 1 single crochet in each stitch and behind the back loop throughout the leg and then 1 single crochet in the next free stitch on the side, turn.
You will see that the number of stitches on the leg increases with each row crocheted. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until there are 11 stitches on the leg. Now until the 18th row, skip the first stitch after turning so that the number of stitches remains constant (i.e., 11) and continue to join the side piece as you crochet. The slip stitch will count as the 12th stitch.
At the end of the 18th row, 1 single crochet in the free stitch on the side and then 1 single crochet in the next stitch as well.

Row with holes for the tie
3 chains, turn, skip the next 2 single crochets, (1 double crochet in the next single crochet on the leg, 1 chain, skip 1 single crochet on the leg) x 5 times, 1 chain, 1 double crochet in the last stitch that was used on the side and at the same time goes through the turning stitch from rows 17-18, 1 chain, skip 1 single crochet on the side, 1 double crochet in the next single crochet. (1 chain, skip 1 stitch, 1 double crochet) x 15 times, 1 chain. Complete the round row with a single crochet in the back loop of the second stitch at the beginning of the round. Now there should be 22 holes for the tie.

Cuff:
1st round: treating each double crochet and each chain as a stitch, start the row with a starting daisy and continue crocheting daisies throughout the row. Close the row with a single crochet in the third stitch of the starting daisy at the very beginning of the row. There should be 22 daisies.
2nd round: (1 chain, 1 single crochet in the top of each daisy, *1 single crochet in the next stitch, 1 single crochet in the top of the next daisy, repeat from * around the whole row and finish with 1 single crochet in the next stitch. Join the row with a slip stitch in the first single crochet.
3-6 rounds: repeat the 1st and 2nd rows two more times.
Note: if you want the cuff longer or shorter, you can crochet more or fewer rounds of daisies.
Finishing for the cuff:
*1 single crochet in the top of the daisy, 3 chains, single crochet in the same place where the last single crochet was made. Repeat from * around the whole round. Cut the yarn.
Finishing: weave in all ends. Insert a ribbon or any tie of your choice into the holes. Crochet the other bootie in the same way.

Bow (tie)
*40 chains, crocheting behind the back loop 6 single crochets in the second stitch from the hook and continuing along the whole chain can either be slip stitches or single crochets (depending on how thick you want the tie) in each stitch until the end. Do not turn. Repeat from * and you have crocheted the entire tie and the first half will be in the middle of the tie. Cut the yarn and secure the ends.

Options:
you can make it in different colors and the sole/insole is crocheted into the back loops. The finishing of the cuff is crocheted immediately after one round of daisies following the round with holes for the tie.
