I needed 3 skeins of variegated yarn and 1 skein of solid color (salad green). By the way, with this yarn, only in a different color, I knitted the overalls «Nezhenka». Advertisement 18 At first, I tried knitting the sweater with size 3 needles, but the fabric turned out very loose and I didn’t like it, so I had to switch to size 2 needles. SIZE of the children's sweater is about 56-62. Oh, I completely forgot about the small buttons; you need 6 pieces. Knitting the back: On size 2 needles, cast on 72 stitches with salad green yarn and knit a band - 6 rows of garter stitch, in the 7th row evenly increase by 14 stitches, resulting in 86 stitches. From the 8th row, switch to the variegated yarn and knit the main pattern — «Large Cells». After knitting 17.5-18 cm from the start, close for the armholes on both sides: first 3 stitches, then in every 2nd row 2 stitches, and 2 times 1 stitch. 72 stitches remain on the needles. Knit another 12 cm and set the work aside without closing the stitches. Back of the children's sweater «Karamelka» Knitting the right front: Cast on 40 stitches on needles and knit 6 rows in garter stitch, while in the beginning of the 6th row make a buttonhole: slip the edge stitch, knit 1 stitch, 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 stitch and pull it through the slipped stitch. Then knit all stitches knitwise. In the 7th row, evenly increase by 7 stitches, resulting in 47 stitches. From the 8th row, starting with the edge stitch, knit the button band with salad green yarn in garter stitch (together with the edge stitch - 4 stitches), then switch to the variegated yarn and knit 42 stitches in the main pattern, 1 knit (edge). Don’t forget to make buttonholes on the band every 4-4.5 cm (a total of 6), and also twist the salad green and variegated yarns together when transitioning from the band to the main pattern, so that there are no holes in these places; try to knit the band stitches a bit tighter than the main pattern. After knitting 17.5-18 cm from the cast-on edge, close the stitches for the armhole like on the back. As a result, 40 stitches remain on the needles. After 8 cm from the start of the armhole, close the stitches for the neck opening: 8 stitches, then in every 2nd row: 4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1 stitch (19 stitches remain on the needles). After 12 cm from the start of the armhole, set the work aside without closing the stitches. Both fronts of the children's sweater «Karamelka» Knitting the left front: The left front is knitted symmetrically to the right, but it’s even easier because there’s no need to make buttonholes. Only the button band in salad green is made at the end of the knit row - the beginning of the purl row. Knitting the sleeves: Cast on 50 stitches on needles and knit in salad green yarn in garter stitch, increasing by 6 stitches in the 7th row. From the 8th row, switch to the variegated yarn and continue knitting in the main pattern, increasing for the sleeve slopes on both sides in every 8th row by 1 stitch 10 times. As a result, after 15 cm from the start, we get 76 stitches. Then for the sleeve cap, close on both sides in every 2nd row: 5, 4, 3, 3 times 2, 3, 4, 5 stitches, resulting in 16 stitches after 3, 5 cm, which are also closed. The second sleeve is knitted similarly. Sleeves of the children's sweater «Karamelka» Assembly: Fold the front and back right sides together, and transfer the shoulder stitches (19 stitches from the back and 19 from the front) to one needle (this is well visible in the photo). From the wrong side of the garment, start knitting the collar with salad green yarn, using garter stitch at the edges (4 stitches without the edge), and the main pattern in the central part. After knitting in this way for 4 cm, knit 5 rows in garter stitch, then close the stitches. Perform side seams, sew and set in the sleeves, and sew on the buttons. The children's sweater «Karamelka» knitted with needles is ready! At the moment, this sweater is a bit big for its owner, but right now it is not needed anyway - it’s hot outside.
