PATTERNS AND DIAGRAMS
GARTER STITCH
Knit all rows knitwise.
STOCKINETTE STITCH
Knit knitwise on the right side and purlwise on the wrong side.
MAIN PATTERN
Knit alternately 6 rows in stockinette stitch, 4 rows in garter stitch.
EMPHASIZED DECREASES
Knit 2 sts before the marker and 2 sts after the marker (= 4 raglan stitches) in stockinette stitch along the entire length of the raglan line.
To decrease, knit the 1st raglan stitch together with the previous stitch leaning to the left (= slip 1 as if to knit, knit 1 and pull the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch), knit 2 sts in stockinette stitch, and knit the last raglan stitch together with the next stitch knitwise.
GAUGE
16 sts x 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
PATTERN
Execution
Cast on 260 (284) 316 sts and knit 8 rows in garter stitch between the edges.
Then continue with the main pattern, attaching a marker at the points for decreases after 37 (39) 44 sts, 93 (103) 114 sts, 167 (181) 202 sts, and after 223 (245) 272 sts. At these points, perform the emphasized decreases 6 (8) 9 times in every 4th row, then perform the emphasized decreases 20 (21) 24 times in every 2nd row.
At the same time, after 21 (25) 29 cm from the starting row, for the neckline of the front, close 1 x 5 sts on both sides, then in every 2nd row close 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, and 1 x 1 st.
After 28 cm for the back neckline, close the middle 16 sts. Finish both sides separately, closing 1 x 3 sts on the back neckline in the 2nd row.
After 26 (30) 34 cm from the starting row, close the remaining sts.
HOOD
Cast on 3 sts and knit the main pattern between the edges, increasing 4 x 1 st, 2 x 2 sts, and 3 x 5 sts from the left edge in every 2nd row = 26 sts.
After 8 cm from the starting row, place all sts on hold.
Knit the second part of the hood symmetrically.
Then continue knitting on all sts, marking the middle 2 sts.
To widen the back, increase from both sides of the marked sts according to the pattern first in every 2nd row (11) 10 x 1 st, and then in every 4th row 3 (4) 5 x 1 st.
After 29 (30) 31 cm from the starting row, place all sts on hold. Close the upper sts with a "stitch to stitch" seam.
ASSEMBLY
Slightly dampen the pieces, stretch to the dimensions indicated on the pattern, and leave to dry completely. Sew the hood into the neckline using a flat seam.
Along the edges and the hood's edge, cast on 160 (176) 192 sts and knit 2 cm in garter stitch between the edges, making buttonholes for the 2 buttons on the right front placket after 1 cm – close 2 sts and then cast them back on in the next row. The first buttonhole should be 5 cm from the lower edge, and the other 3 buttonholes should be spaced 5 (6) 7 cm apart, then close all sts.
Sew on the buttons.
