Children's jacket MELANI for 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 10 years

Charming warm jacket for a girl or boy (depending on which side you place the buttons).

Sizes:
R1: 2 years, R2: 4 years, R3: 6 years, R4: 8 years, R5: 10 years.

You will need: 8/9/10/11/12 skeins of 100% wool yarn, 50 m/50; needles No. 6 and No. 5.5, auxiliary needle for braids; 5/5/5/6/6 buttons.

Fancy pattern: see the chart.
4 knit stitches, crossed to the left: leave 2 stitches on the auxiliary needle in front of the work, knit 2 stitches, then knit the stitches from the auxiliary needle;
4 knit stitches, crossed to the right: leave 2 stitches on the auxiliary needle behind the work, knit 2 stitches, then knit the stitches from the auxiliary needle.

Knitting density: 16 stitches x 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm (fancy pattern, needles No. 6).

Back
Cast on 53/57/59/63/67 stitches on the needles and knit 8 rows of garter stitch. Continue knitting in the fancy pattern, starting from the 5th/3rd/2nd/10th/8th stitch of the chart. Decrease on both sides: for R1 every 14th row 2 times 1 stitch, for R2 every 10th row 3 times 1 stitch, for R3 every 18th row 1 time 1 stitch, every 16th row 1 time 1 stitch, for R4 every 14th row 1 time 1 stitch, every 12th row 2 times 1 stitch, for R5 every 22nd row 1 time 1 stitch, every 20th row 1 time 1 stitch (remaining 49/51/55/57/63 stitches). At a total height of 20/21/23/25/27 cm for armholes, close on both sides every 2nd row: for R1 1 time 2 stitches, 2 times 1 stitch, for R2, R3, R4, R5 1 time 2 stitches, 1 time 1 stitch (remaining 41/45/49/51/57 stitches). At a total height of 33/35/38/41/44 cm for the neckline close the center 23/23/25/25/27 stitches. At a total height of 34/36/39/42/45 cm close the remaining 9/11/12/13/15 stitches of the shoulder.

Right front
Cast on 33/35/38/38/40 stitches on the needles and knit 8 rows of garter stitch. Continue knitting, distributing the stitches as follows: 6 stitches of garter stitch, 27/29/30/32/34 stitches of fancy pattern, starting from the 1st stitch of the chart.
Attention! In every 10th row, knit on the 8 stitches of garter stitch an additional 1 row in the forward direction and 1 row in the backward direction (i.e., knit short rows).
Make 5/5/5/6/6 buttonholes on the right side at a distance of 2 stitches from the edge (close 2 stitches and cast them on again in the next row): the first at a distance of 4/5/6/4/4 cm from the bottom, and the others at a distance of 6/6/6.5/6/6.5 cm from each other. On the left side, decrease as on the back (remaining 31/32/34/35/38 stitches). At a total height of 20/21/23/25/27 cm make the armhole on the left side as on the back (remaining 27/29/31/32/35 stitches). At a total height of 29/31/34/36/39 cm for the neckline close on the right in every 2nd row: for R1 and R2 1 time 6 stitches, 2 times 3 stitches, 3 times 2 stitches, for R3 1 time 6 stitches, 3 times 3 stitches, 2 times 2 stitches, for R4 1 time 6 stitches, 2 times 3 stitches, 3 times 2 stitches, 1 time 1 stitch, for R5 1 time 6 stitches, 3 times 3 stitches, 2 times 2 stitches, 1 time 1 stitch. At a total height of 34/36/39/42/45 cm close the remaining 9/11/12/13/15 stitches of the shoulder.

Left front
Knit symmetrically to the right front, do not make buttonholes.

Sleeves
Cast on 31/31/31/33/33 stitches on the needles and knit 8 rows of garter stitch. Continue knitting in the fancy pattern, starting from the 1st/1st/1st/10th/10th stitch of the chart. Increase on both sides: for R1 every 6th row 9 times 1 stitch, for R2 every 6th row 2 times 1 stitch, every 4th row 8 times 1 stitch, for R3 every 6th row 2 times 1 stitch, every 4th row 10 times 1 stitch, for R4 every 6th row 7 times 1 stitch, every 4th row 5 times 1 stitch, for R5 every 6th row 7 times 1 stitch, every 4th row 7 times 1 stitch (total 49/51/55/57/61 stitches). At a total height of 24/28/32/36/40 cm for the sleeve cap close on both sides every 2nd row: 2 times 3 stitches, 1 time 2 stitches, then close the remaining 33/35/39/41/45 stitches.

Assembly
Perform shoulder seams. Cast on 60/60/66/66/72 stitches on needles No. 5.5 along the neckline edge (24/24/26/26/28 stitches along the back edge, 18/18/20/20/22 stitches along the edge of each front; do not cast on stitches on the neckline section 1.5 cm from the inner edge of each front). Knit 8 cm of garter stitch and close the stitches. Perform side seams. Sew the sleeve seams and set in the sleeves. Sew on the buttons.
