The base of the pullover is a square napkin, which is knitted from the center. The diagram shows 1/4 of this napkin.

Instructions for the diagram.

Here is the decoding of the symbols from the picture:

  • ● — knit stitch

  • ○ — yarn over

  • 𝑉 (two dots inside) — two stitches from one

  • 𝑉 with three dots — three stitches from one

  • 𝑉 with a dash below — two stitches from the intermediate thread

  • ◆ — twisted stitch

  • ∕ — two together (leaning right)

  • \ — two together (leaning left)

  • U — three together

  • ↘ — two twisted right

  • ↙ — two twisted left

  • 1→ — one stitch is moved from the left needle to the right

  • 2← — two stitches are moved from the right needle to the left

To avoid a tightly packed ring in the center of the flower, I cast on 4 chain stitches and from them knitted the required number of stitches on double-pointed needles. This way, the center of the flower looks much neater.

When the central flower is ready, I switched to circular needles.

I separated stitches for the neckline (I ended up with 22 stitches), this is for size 48.

You should end up with a square. Separate stitches for the sleeves, side parts, and bottom on additional needles. Knit the second part (let's say the front, with a larger neckline) and sew the side and shoulder parts stitch by stitch.

Petals of flowers are knitted into the sleeves (I left 25 stitches for each sleeve from the front and back parts), then 8 rows of ribbing 2*2.

Also, the front and back parts were elongated in stockinette stitch by 7 cm, and then ribbing 2*2 for 20 rows.

In conclusion, the neckline was knitted in ribbing 2*2.

The pullover is ready!
