Mittens with knitting needlesKlubokhttp://klubok.work/1/135/9230/Klubokhttps://klubok.work/css/image/top-logo-en.png100% wool yarn, 280 m per 100 g. Soft lilac color.
Knit with a simple pattern; palm circumference 19 cm.
I cast on 44 stitches in the usual way and knitted in the round on three double-pointed needles (DPNs) of 21 cm length. By the way, the needles are comfortable, and the size is 2.5 mm.
Also needed: 2 stitch markers, scissors, a row counter, and a measuring tape.
Knit in the round in a 1×1 rib with crossed knit stitches. The ribbing height is 5 cm.
Then I switched to stockinette stitch and the pattern on the back side.
I immediately marked the thumb stitches, which are 8 stitches.
The thumb is shaped with an Indian wedge. I increased stitches for the thumb from the long tail. I increased stitches every other row; for the right hand I made increases before the marker, and for the left hand after the marker.
The thumb is shaped with an Indian wedge. I increased stitches 10 times.
The height with increases is 7 cm. Then I placed the thumb stitches on an extra thread and continued knitting in the round for another 1.5 cm, and switched to 1×1 rib with crossed knits, which is 2 cm.
Pattern chart drawn by hand :
Pattern repeat: 14 stitches and 14 rows.
In the chart only odd rows are shown; even rows in rounds are worked in knit stitches.
Overall height: 17 cm, width: 9 cm, and weight: 37 grams. Another option for using up leftover yarn.
