Short knitted skirt with flaps and a high yoke waistband, made with large cable patterns using knitting needles.
Description is given for size S (M). Waist circumference 70-75 (80-85) cm. Waistband diameter in non-stretched (finished) state 38 (43) cm. Skirt length 58 (62) cm.
For knitting you will need:
Yarn 1 - 17 (8) skeins of dark finish Silkroad Aran Tweed (85% wool, 10% silk, 5% cashmere, 95 m/50 g); Yarn 2 - 12 (13) skeins of clinker color (yarn 2) Silkroad Ultra (85% wool, 10% silk, 5% cashmere, 55 m/50 g);
Yarn 3 - 4 (4) skeins of navy Classic DK Wool (100% wool, 98 m/50 g);
Circular needles: 4 mm long 80 cm, 7 mm long 120 cm, 10 mm long 120 cm, auxiliary needle, stitch markers.
Knitting density:
9 sts and 19 rows = 10x10 cm "seed" pattern with 10 mm needles using yarns 1 and 2 held together;
22.5 sts and 25 rows = 10x10 cm ribbing with 4 mm needles using yarn 3 doubled.
Row 1: 1 knit, 1 purl, repeat to end of row;
Row 2: knit over purl, purl over knit.
Repeat 2 rows.
Abbreviations:
P1I - lift a stitch from the strand between stitches and knit as purl (add 1 st).
K6P - slip 3 sts to an auxiliary needle behind the work, knit 3 knit, then knit 3 from the auxiliary needle.
K6L - slip 3 sts to an auxiliary needle in front of the work, knit 3 knit, then knit 3 from the auxiliary needle.
The skirt is knitted top down.
Description:
On 10 mm circular needles using yarns 1 and 2 held together, cast on 279 (319) sts. Place a marker at the start of the round and join into a circle.
1st round (RS): *12 sts "seed", 6 knit, 4 purl, 6 knit, 12 sts "seed", ** repeat from * to ** 5 (6) times, then 12 sts "seed", 6 knit, 4 purl, 6 knit, 11 sts "seed".
2-7 rounds: knit as 1st round.
8th round: *12 sts "seed", K6P, 2 purl together twice, K6L, 12 sts "seed" **, repeat from * to ** 5 (6) times, then 12 sts "seed", K6P, 2 purl together twice, K6L, 11 sts "seed".
Knit 7 rounds as established by the pattern (without cables).
16th round: *12 sts "seed", K6P, 2 purl together, K6L, 12 sts "seed" **, repeat from * to ** 5 (6) times, then 12 sts "seed", K6P, 2 purl together, K6L, 11 sts "seed".
Knit 7 rounds by pattern.
24th round: *12 sts "seed", K6P, 2 purl together twice, K6L, 12 sts "seed" **, repeat from * to ** 5 (6) times, then 12 sts "seed", K6P, 2 purl together twice, K6L, 11 sts "seed".
Knit 7 rounds by pattern.
32nd round: *12 sts "seed", K6P, P1I, 1 purl, K6L, 12 sts "seed" **, repeat from * to ** 5 (6) times, then 12 sts "seed", K6P, P1I, 1 purl, K6L, 11 sts "seed".
Knit 7 rounds by pattern.
40th round: *12 sts "seed", K6P, 2 purl, K6L, 12 sts "seed" **, repeat from * to ** 5 (6) times, then 12 sts "seed", K6P, 2 purl, K6L, 11 sts "seed".
41-44 rounds: knit 4 rounds by pattern.
45th round: close 12 sts in "seed" pattern, *14 sts ribbing, close 24 sts in "seed" pattern **, repeat from 8 to ** 5 (6) times, then 14 sts ribbing, close remaining 11 sts in "seed" pattern = 98 (112) sts.
46th round: switch to 7 mm needles and knit ribbing to the end, pulling the yarn tightly between sections of closed stitches.
47-51 rounds: continue knitting ribbing.
Switch to 4 mm needles and yarn 3 doubled.
52-57 rounds: knit ribbing.
58th round:
For size S - maintaining the ribbing pattern, 2 knit together twice, *15 sts ribbing, 2 knit together twice, 16 sts ribbing, 2 knit together twice**, repeat from * to ** 1 time, then 16 sts ribbing = 88 sts.
For size M - maintaining the ribbing pattern, 2 knit together twice, *14 sts ribbing, 2 knit together twice, 15 sts ribbing, 2 knit together twice**, repeat from 8 to ** 1 time, then 14 sts ribbing, 2 knit together twice, 16 sts ribbing = 100 sts.
Continue ribbing until the height of the waistband (from the start) reaches 29 (33) cm.
Bind off stitches loosely in ribbing pattern using 10 mm needles.
Finishing.
From the wrong side, locate the center of the section of closed stitches (in "seed" pattern) and sew in the center between the sections with cables, forming flaps. Sew all sections with pleats in this manner.
