Selja sweater by Novitahttp://klubok.work/1/3/8902/Klubok

I found this sweater on the site novitaknits.com. I liked the model itself, its color, and the fact that it came with a completely free description. Thank God, it's in English (not in Finnish!).-2

The front of the model is decorated with a panel of "leaves". The main pattern is "pearl", where the stitches alternate in each row. The warm brown color harmonizes very well with the "leaves" pattern, reminiscent of the autumn withering of nature.

The sweater is knitted from the bottom up in one piece to the armholes, which is a significant argument in the question of "to knit or not to knit".

Sizes

XS (S) M (L) XL (XXL).

Finished garment measurements:

  • chest circumference 84 (92) 100 (108) 116 (124) cm,
  • sweater length: 55 (57) 59 (61) 63 (65) cm,
  • length along the inner sleeve seam: 46 (47) 48 (49) 49 (50) cm.

Circular needles size 3.5 and 4.5, 40 and 80 cm long. If you do not knit using the "magic loop" technique, you will also need double-pointed needles size 3.5 and 4.5 for knitting the sleeves.

Work Description

Work Description

Body of the Sweater

The body is knitted in one piece to the armholes.
On smaller circular needles (80 cm) cast on 156 (168) 184 (200) 212 (228) stitches,
place a marker for the beginning of the round and knit ribbing in the round for 6 cm.

Switch to size 4.5 circular needles.
Knit in stockinette stitch and lace pattern with "cables", starting with row 1 of the chart:

Knit 16 (19) 23 (27) 30 (34) stitches in pearl pattern,
knit part A (= 10 stitches) of the chart,
part B (= 26 stitches),
part C (= 10 stitches),
knit 16 (19) 23 (27) 30 (34) stitches in pearl pattern,
place the side marker,
knit 78 (84) 92 (100) 106 (114) stitches of the back in pearl pattern.

In parts A and C knit rows 1–4, then continue to repeat rows 1–4.
In part B knit rows 2–10, then repeat rows 1–10.

When the piece measures 36 (37) 38 (39) 41 (42) cm in length,
finish with an even row of the chart and knit the next row to the last 3 (5) 5 (6) 6 (6) stitches.

Bind off the next 6 (10) 10 (12) 12 (12) stitches for the armholes,
knit 72 (74) 82 (88) 94 (102) stitches of the front,
bind off the next 6 (10) 10 (12) 12 (12) stitches for the armhole,
knit 72 (74) 82 (88) 94 (102) stitches of the back.

72 (74) 82 (88) 94 (102) stitches of the front and back remain on a stitch holder.

Upper Back Part

Turn the work.
Starting from a purl row, knit in pearl pattern in back-and-forth rows on
72 (74) 82 (88) 94 (102) stitches of the back.

At both ends bind off for the armholes every second row:

0 (0) 0 (1) 1 (1) times 3 stitches,
1 (1) 2 (1) 1 (2) times 2 stitches and
2 (2) 2 (3) 3 times 1 stitch =
64 (66) 70 (74) 78 (82) stitches remain.

When the armhole reaches 17 (18) 19 (20) 20 (21) cm, bind off for the neckline
the middle 26 (26) 26 (28) 28 (28) stitches.
Knit each part separately. After 2 rows bind off at the neckline 1 time 2 stitches.

At the armhole height of 19 (20) 21 (22) 22 (23) cm
bind off 17 (18) 20 (21) 23 (25) stitches for the shoulder.

Knit the second side in the same way.

Upper Front Part

Return to the needles 72 (74) 82 (88) 94 (102) stitches of the front.
Turn the work and start with a purl row.

When the armhole reaches 11 (12) 13 (14) 14 (15) cm,
leave the middle 22 (22) 22 (24) 24 (24) stitches on a holder for the neckline.
Knit each part separately.
In every second row bind off at the neckline 4 times 1 stitch.

At the armhole height of 19 (20) 21 (22) 23 (23) cm
bind off 17 (18) 20 (21) 23 (25) stitches for the shoulder.

Knit the second side the same way.

Sleeves

Use double-pointed needles or the Magic Loop technique.

  1. Using size 3.5 needles, cast on 42 (44) 46 (46) 48 (48) stitches and
place a marker for the beginning of the round.

  2. Knit in ribbing in the round for 6 cm.
    After knitting 1 row in knit stitches, evenly increase 12 (14) 16 (18) 16 (20) stitches =
    54 (58) 62 (64) 64 (68) stitches.

  3. Switch to size 4.5 needles and knit in pearl pattern in the round.

  4. When the length reaches 36 (37) 38 (39) 39 (40) cm, increase 1 stitch on each side at the beginning of the row.
Repeat the increases every 5 cm =
    58 (62) 66 (68) 66 (72) stitches.

  5. When the length reaches 46 (47) 48 (49) 49 (50) cm:

    • in the next row knit to the last 3 (5) 5 (6) 6 (6) stitches,

    • bind off the last 3 (5) 5 (6) 6 (6) stitches,

    • bind off the first 3 (5) 5 (6) 6 (6) stitches in the next row,

    • knit to the end of the row.
