BEGINNING OF WORK

SWEATER — GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The garment is knitted with straight and circular needles of varying lengths — start with the ones that fit the number of stitches, and switch as needed. The front and back are knitted separately, in rows, from bottom to top, then sewn together. The sleeves are knitted from the top down, first in rows, then in the round. They are set into the armholes. The collar is double, folded inward and sewn on.

FRONT:

Cast on 93-99-107-117-129-141 stitches on 4 mm needles (US 6) with DROPS Air yarn. Knit in garter stitch from the right side: 1 edge stitch (garter stitch), 1 knit, 1 purl, repeat from * to * until the last 2 stitches, 1 knit and 1 edge stitch. Continue the ribbing for 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm.

Knit 1 row in knit stitches and evenly decrease 14-14-16-17-19-21 stitches = 79-85-91-100-110-120 stitches. Switch to 5.5 mm needles (US 9). Then stockinette stitch with 1 edge garter on each side.

At a length of 29-30-31-32-33-34 cm, bind off 4-4-5-5-6-6 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows = 71-77-81-90-98-108 stitches. Continue decreases along the edges (on the right side, as shown above). Decrease 2 stitches 0-0-0-2-4-6 times and 1 stitch 7-9-10-10-8-8 times on each side = 57-59-61-62-66-68 stitches.

At a length of 42-44-45-47-48-50 cm, place the middle 13-13-13-14-16-16 stitches on a holder for the neckline. Shoulder shaping to be finished separately, performing decreases at the neckline (total of 8 times). You will have 14-15-16-16-17-18 stitches on the shoulder. Bind off the stitches at a length of 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm.

BACK:

Cast on 93-99-107-117-129-141 stitches on 4 mm needles. Ribbing from the right side: 1 edge stitch (garter), 1 purl, 1 knit, repeat from * to * until the last 2 stitches, 1 purl and 1 edge stitch. Ribbing 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm.

Knit 1 row in knit stitches and evenly decrease 14-14-16-17-19-21 stitches = 79-85-91-100-110-120 stitches. Switch to 5.5 mm needles. Then stockinette stitch with edge stitches (garter stitch).

At a length of 29-30-31-32-33-34 cm, bind off 4-4-5-5-6-6 stitches on both sides = 71-77-81-90-98-108 stitches. Further decreases as for the front = 57-59-61-62-66-68 stitches.

At a length of 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm, place the middle 27-27-27-28-30-30 stitches on a holder (neckline). The next row from the neckline — bind off 1 stitch = 14-15-16-16-17-18 stitches on the shoulder. Bind off the stitches at a length of 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm.

SLEEVES:

Cast on 16-16-18-18-20-20 stitches on 4 mm needles. Switch to 5.5 mm needles. Knit 2 rows in stockinette stitch.

Next:
1 edge stitch, 1 yarn over, 1 knit, repeat from * to * to the end of the row, yarn over, 1 edge stitch = 31-31-35-35-39-39 stitches. Next row is purl (yarn overs purled to create holes).

Next knit row:
1 edge stitch, 2 knit stitches, 1 yarn over, repeat to the end, 1 knit, 1 edge stitch = 45-45-51-51-57-57 stitches. Purl row — as before.

Continue in stockinette stitch, while adding stitches at the edges for the sleeve cap: 3-3-3-3-2-2 stitches over 3-5-4-2-3-3 times, 1 stitch over 2-2-4-3-6-9 times, 3-2-2-2-2-2 stitches over 2-1-1-5-3-2 times, 4-4-5-5-6-6 stitches once on each side = 87-91-97-99-105-107 stitches.

From here, the length of the sleeve is measured!
Then continue in the round in stockinette stitch. Place a marker at the center under the sleeve.

At a length of 4 cm, decrease by 1 stitch on each side of the marker (total 2 stitches).
Repeat every 2½-2-2-1½-1½-1 cm, a total of 13-14-16-16-18-18 times = 61-63-65-67-69-71 stitches.
At a length of 37-36-36-35-33-31 cm: knit 8-9-9-10-10-11 stitches, on the next 45-45-47-47-49-49 stitches evenly decrease 15 stitches, remaining 8-9-9-10-10-11 stitches to be bound off = 46-48-50-52-54-56 stitches.

Switch to 4 mm double-pointed needles, knit in rib (1 knit, 1 purl) 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm.
Bind off loosely.
Sleeve length = 55-55-56-56-56-56 cm.

ASSEMBLY:

Sew shoulder seams with wrong sides facing.
Set in the sleeves into the armholes, matching the edges.
Sew side seams and sleeve seams on the wrong side.

COLLAR:

Pick up 88-100 stitches along the neckline edge (inside the edge) onto 4 mm short circular needles.
The number of stitches must be divisible by 4.
Knit in rib (1 knit, 1 purl) in the round for 11 cm.
Bind off stitches according to pattern, not tight.
Fold the collar inward and sew with an elastic stitch.
