The lace pattern for the edge is taken from the book by Barbara G. Walker "Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns", page 350-351, pattern Roman Stitch from the book by Barbara G. Walker "A Treasury of Knitting Patterns", page 13.
The shawl-scarf is knitted as one piece.
Notes:
1. Knit the bobbles loosely.
2. An alternative way to knit the bobble - knit 1 stitch, yarn over twice, knit 1 stitch, yarn over twice, knit 1 stitch, yarn over twice, knit 1 stitch. In the next row, slip 7 stitches onto the right needle one by one, dropping the extra yarn overs. Insert the left needle into the stitches and purl them together as usual.
3. Count each bobble as 1 stitch.
4. Wrap and turn - W&T: bring the yarn to the front, slip 1 stitch onto the right needle as if to purl, bring the yarn to the back, return the slipped stitch to the left needle, turn the work.
5. s2lpr = slip 2 stitches as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, drop the 2 slipped stitches over the knitted stitch (pass over)
