The scheme indicates the front rows. Knit according to the pattern in the purl rows.

The width of the pattern is 22 stitches wide. Repeat from row 1 to row 28 in height.

EMPTY SQUARE  - purl (purl in front rows, knit in purl rows)

knit (knit in front rows, purl in purl rows)

Cross 5 stitches to the left (place the 2 stitches on a spare needle and hold in front of work, knit   3 stitches knit, then knit the 2 stitches from the spare needle)

Cross 5 stitches (hold 2 stitches on the 1st spare needle in front of work, hold the 3rd stitch on the 2nd spare needle behind work, then knit the next 2 stitches, then knit the stitch from the 2nd spare needle knit, then knit the stitches from the 2nd spare needle)

Cross 3 stitches  to the right (hold 1 stitch on a spare needle and hold behind work, knit the 2 stitches, then knit the stitch from the spare needle purl)

Cross 3 stitches to the left (hold 2 stitches on the spare needle and hold in front of work, knit 1 stitch purl, then knit the 2 stitches from the spare needle knit)
