Two-Sided Knitting This lesson is dedicated to two-sided knitting, which is essential for making jackets, cardigans, and blankets. The yarns of the spirit of colors are knitted in stockinette stitch, resulting in one side having all stitches of one color, and the other side having a second color. Two-sided knitting can also be used to create items with jacquard patterns. The main technique remains the same, but special attention must be paid to the change of yarns of different colors, which should occur periodically and at strictly defined places. Cast on, for example, the required number of stitches with blue and red yarn together, knit the edge stitch with the two yarns together in a twisted knit; then knit as follows: move the yarns to the wrong side of the work, knit one knit stitch with the blue yarn, capturing only the blue stitch. Hold both yarns (blue and red) in front of the work and knit the red stitch with only the red yarn. Hold the yarns behind the work, knit the red stitch with the red yarn, move the yarns to the front of the work and knit the blue stitch with the blue yarn. At the end of the row, knit 1 edge stitch, capturing 2 stitches with the two yarns together. In the following rows, repeat the steps described in the previous points. At the end of the work, close all stitches with a grafting stitch. The picture below shows how two-sided two-color knitting looks: stockinette stitch on both sides of the item, but on one side all stitches are blue, and on the other side — red.
