PATTERN KNITTING FOR A HAT To knit the pattern, cast on 28 stitches. Grandmother's stitches (knit stitches through the back loop). Row 1 - 1 purl, all knit stitches, 1 purl. Row 2 - 1 purl, all purl stitches, 1 purl. Row 3 - 1 purl, *slip 2 stitches to a spare needle in front, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 2 from the spare needle*, 2 knit, 1 purl. Row 4 - 1 purl, all purl stitches, 1 purl. Row 5 - 1 purl, 2 knit, *slip 2 stitches to a spare needle behind, 2 knit, knit 2 together from the spare needle, yarn over*, 1 purl. Row 6 - 1 purl, all purl stitches, 1 purl. Row 7 - repeat from the 3rd row.
