The pattern repeat consists of 3 stitches in width and 8 rows in height, of which 4 rows are knitted according to the pattern.

For the sample pattern, cast on a number of stitches that is a multiple of 3 + 2 edge stitches.

Row 1 - edge, 1 purl, 1 knit. * 2 purl, 1 knit * 1 purl, edge.

Row 2 - edge, 1 knit. * 1 purl, 2 knit * 1 purl, 1 knit, edge.

Row 3 - edge.* (yarn in front) - 3 stitches slip (without knitting), 1 purl, 1 knit, 1 purl * edge.

Row 4 - edge.* 1 knit, 1 purl, 1 knit,- (yarn in back) 3 stitches slip (without knitting) * edge.

Row 5 - edge, 1 purl, 1 knit. * 2 purl, 1 knit * 1 purl, edge.

Row 6 - edge, 1 knit. * 1 purl, 2 knit * 1 purl, 1 knit, edge.
