I suggest you crochet a fancy skirt for a little princess like this. The skirt is made from cotton threads, iris works very well. The yoke of the skirt is crocheted with double crochets. I am attaching a diagram for the ruffle.

Crochet the first row with a chain, then crochet all double crochets into each stitch of the previous row. After finishing the yoke, switch to crocheting double crochets, skipping one stitch of the previous row.
