Children's bodysuit knitted with buttonshttp://klubok.work/23/181/8877/Klubok

This is a wonderful basic piece of clothing for a child's wardrobe!
The body of the jumpsuit is knitted from the top down, in straight rows on circular needles. After completing the neckline, increases for the raglan on the yoke are made before knitting the body. Then the work is divided into the front and back to create leg openings and knit in straight rows separately. Finally, pick up stitches along the edges of the leg openings and for the button band. Use the Italian cast on method for casting on and the Italian cast off method for binding off, so that the edge is not too tight and the appearance is beautiful.

SIZES

0–1 (1–5) 3–6 (6–9) 9–12 (18–24) months

YARN

 (50 g = 235 m)

Yarn quantity:
50 (100) 100 (100) 100 (150) g

NEEDLES

Circular needles #2.5 and #3, 60 or 80 cm long
Double pointed needles (or long circular needles when using the Magic Loop method)

Additionally needed

9–12 buttons with a diameter of about 12–15 mm

GAUGE AND SIZE

It was decided not to specify the gauge, as it is difficult to measure for very stretchy fabric knitted in ribbing. For example, the jumpsuit is knitted from fine yarn, for which the standard gauge for stockinette stitch is 28 sts in width. The item knitted in ribbing looks much narrower until it is worn.

Italian cast on and cast off methods:

Methods for ribbing 2 knit, 2 purl are used to get elastic and neat edges. You can choose any method you prefer.

CAST ON STITCHES FOR NECKLINE

Cast on 70 (78) 86 (86) 86 (94) sts using the Italian cast on method on #2.5 needles.

Start with a purl row. Knit 5 rows in ribbing (2 knit, 2 purl) in straight rows.

Important: You must count 5 rows from the transition from 1x1 ribbing to 2x2 ribbing if you used the Italian cast on.

YOKE

Switch to #3 needles and knit in rounds in ribbing (2 knit, 2 purl), while marking a total of 10 sts for raglan on the yoke.

Note: after dividing the raglan stitches, knit in stockinette stitch so that the sleeve and body stitches start and end with 2 purl.

Stitch distribution and markers:

Start with a knit row:

  • 2 sts for raglan

  • 10 (10) 14 (14) 14 (14) sts (left sleeve)

  • 2 sts for raglan

  • 22 (26) 26 (26) 26 (30) sts (back)

  • 2 sts for raglan

  • 10 (10) 14 (14) 14 (14) sts (right sleeve)

  • 2 sts for raglan

  • 18 (22) 22 (22) 22 (26) sts (front)

  • 2 sts for raglan

Important: You will be making the buttonhole band on the first and last raglan stitches, so there are 10, not 8.

Increases for raglan

Make yarn overs on both sides of the 2 raglan stitches. In the knit row, knit the yarn overs knit or purl to incorporate into the 2x2 rib pattern.

Before the raglan stitch: slip the yarn over to the right needle, place on the left, knit or purl (with a right tilt).
After the raglan stitch: knit through the back loop or purl (with a left tilt).

Add a total of 8 sts in every 2nd row.
Increase 12 (12) 16 (16) 20 (20) times, until there are 166 (174) 214 (214) 246 (254) sts.

Stitch distribution after all increases:

  • 2 sts for raglan

  • 34 (34) 46 (46) 54 (54) sts (left sleeve)

  • 2 sts for raglan

  • 46 (50) 58 (58) 66 (70) sts (back)

  • 2 sts for raglan

  • 34 (34) 46 (46) 54 (54) sts (right sleeve)

  • 2 sts for raglan

  • 42 (46) 54 (54) 62 (66) sts (front)

  • 2 sts for raglan

Next:

After the last increase:

  • knit the yarn overs

  • 1 purl row without increases

  • place the sleeve stitches on a holder, increase stitches under the arms

Splitting stitches (for all sizes except 9 months):

1 knit, slip 36 (36) 48 (-) 56 (56) sts of the left sleeve onto a holder, cast on 4 sts, knit the back, slip 36 (36) 48 (-) 56 (56) sts of the right sleeve onto a holder, cast on 4 sts, knit the front.

For 9 months:
2 knit, slip 46 sts of the left sleeve, cast on 6 sts, knit 62 sts of the back, slip 46 sts of the right sleeve, cast on 6 sts, knit 58 sts of the front.

BODY

On the needles: 102 (110) 126 (134) 142 (150) sts.

Knit in straight rows in ribbing until a length of 14 (15.5) 16.5 (18.5) 19.5 (22) cm.

Divide for the front and back, then decrease stitches.

Leg openings (back)

Leave the front stitches on the needles.

Bind off the first 3 (5) 3 (5) 3 (3) sts, knit to the end of the row, turn.

In each row, decrease by 1 st at the beginning until 18 (18) 18 (18) 22 (22) sts remain.

Switch to #2.5, knit 7 rows in ribbing.

Bind off stitches using the Italian cast off method.

Bind off 5 (5) 7 (7) 5 (7) sts at the beginning of the row, then in the purl row, bind off 4 (4) 6 (4) 4 (6) sts.

Continue to bind off 2 sts at the beginning of each row 5 (6) 7 (8) 9 (9) times.

There should be 18 (18) 18 (18) 22 (22) sts left on the needles.

Switch to #2.5, knit 7 rows, and in the 2nd row, make a buttonhole.

Bind off stitches using the Italian cast off method.

Finishing leg openings

SLEEVES

Pick up 4 or 6 sts under the arm, knit ribbing, decreasing as described every 2 cm.
