VEST WITH PATTERN OF BRAIDS

The number of stitches is given for a size for 1 year and NAKO "calico" yarn, needles No. 3

Cable strip (Braid):
The braid is knitted on 4 stitches...
Row 1 - all knit
Row 2 - all purl
Row 3 - slip the first stitch, knit 3 stitches knitwise, then knit the slipped stitch knitwise.

Wrong side (Row 2) - all stitches purl except for the border stitches.
Right side (Row 3)

Wrong side (Row 4) - all stitches purl except for the border stitches.
Continue knitting alternating these 4 rows... that is, in one knit row we will make yarn overs, and in the next knit row we will braid..
Knit in this way for 8 braids.. then divide the stitches for the front - 30 stitches on each side, sleeves - 45 stitches, and back - 52 stitches.
On the front borders and back continue to knit alternating strips of braids and yarn overs... while on the sleeve stitches we knit in garter stitch...
Then close the sleeve stitches, gather the front pieces and back on one needle and continue to knit the cardigan, continuing to alternate the braids and yarn overs until the desired width... knit the remaining length in stockinette stitch and finish with rows of garter stitch..
